Chapter 67 The Weight
- Adrian POV
- Day twenty-three.
- I started counting without meaning to — somewhere around day eight it became a habit, the way certain things do when you're measuring your life in small specific rituals because the larger picture is too much to look at straight on. Every morning before my seven o'clock film session I stop at the cart outside the library's east entrance and I buy two coffees and I leave one on the corner of the fourth-floor reference desk, white ceramic mug if they have it, lid off because Jules always took the lid off. I don't leave a note. I don't wait. I go to film session and I don't let myself think about whether it got there.
