- One weekend, when Vernon was 18, Mark took him to the private room in the studio, where he took all his intimate photos. It was a feminine room with a canopy bed, velvet-covered couch, a love seat, and light colored curtains. He also showed him a file of sample photos he took there. All the women were dressed in underwear or lingerie and posed for the camera. Even before the visit Vernon knew his father photographed women, but the sensual poses with delicate lighting took his breath away. I haven't checked the file in over 4 years and didn't know that Mark updated it every couple of months. Only later I found out some of MY photos were among others.
- When they arrived home, I asked Vernon what he thought about Mark's skills. He blushed and mumbled, "Dad is a terrific photographer. I might rethink my direction in life."
- Mark and I laughed, "First, go to college, do well, and then you'll decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. You are still young. Most students change their minds about their preferred profession a couple of times before finding the right one." He smiled and agreed.
