Chapter 14 Aiden Lives in Seclusion

  • On Cole's prescription, it clearly stated that one pound of croton and three cups of clear alcohol should be boiled together and ground into pills. The patient should then take one pill at a time!
  • Croton was a laxative that could cause one to excrete immediately after taking it. Moreover, the patient was extremely weak. Thus, the other doctors couldn't help wondering if the patient's condition would worsen after she consumed croton.
  • Clear alcohol, on the other hand, would only increase the burden of someone who had a weak stomach.
  • "How do you know it isn't effective before even trying it?"
  • "You guys were the ones who didn't listen to him just now and almost killed my mother."
  • "I refuse to believe either of you anymore. I'm going to search for the medicine's ingredients right now!" The young man huffed and intended to leave in a hurry.
  • "Wait a minute!" Aiden stopped him. "I'll send someone to do it."
  • After waving at his assistant, he ordered, "Hurry up and produce the pill according to this prescription and bring it over."
  • About half an hour later, a black pill was brought over by the assistant.
  • The pill looked hideous and even carried a faint pungent and alcoholic scent.
  • Is this little thing going to cure the patient? It better not make the patient's condition worse! All the other doctors mused.
  • After watching the patient take the pill, the doctors present focused their attention on her.
  • She instantly furrowed her brows upon taking the medication.
  • Her stomach started growling as she called out to her son. "Take me to the toilet, son!"
  • Approximately 15 minutes later, the patient came out of the toilet slowly.
  • Though she still seemed a little weak, she felt hungry right after, so she quickly told her son, "I-I'm hungry. Can you bring me some food?"
  • "Sure. I'll get some oatmeal for you." The patient's son hurriedly went to a nearby restaurant to take away a bowl of oatmeal for her.
  • The patient felt her appetite coming back all of a sudden, so she devoured the oatmeal like a hungry wolf, licked her lips, and burped.
  • "I feel much better now." The patient heaved a sigh of relief, relaxed her brows, and looked more energetic. She was completely different from before.
  • After a thorough examination, the doctors realized that the virus in the patient's body was completely eliminated and she was no doubt in good health now.
  • That shocked the rest of the doctors present!
  • They couldn't believe such an easy formula could heal a weird disease that challenged 200 specialists present!
  • For a moment, Aiden couldn't help shaking his head and sighing. As expected, behind a great man always stands a greater man. Age is indeed catching up with me!
  • Aiden's figure suddenly hunched as he shook his head and sighed while he walked toward the door.
  • "Where are you going, Dr. Calhoun?"
  • Everyone gasped, suddenly realizing how old Aiden now seemed to be.
  • "Cole's medical skills make me feel ashamed. His skills are beyond my reach! From now on, I will live in seclusion in the mountains and never practice medicine anymore in my life!" With that, Aiden vanished.
  • "Eh?!" Everyone exchanged glances, unable to believe that Aiden decided to live in seclusion!
  • "What should we do now, Dr. Howard?"
  • After Aiden left, everyone turned to look at Gabriel.
  • "Cole's medical attainments are already extremely high—even I am far behind him!"
  • Just then, someone reminded the crowd, "In my opinion, Cole Stuart should be awarded first place in this medical conference!"
  • "I agree. Cole is indeed skillful. We were the ones who were too arrogant to admit it! It doesn't matter if he's a traditional medicine practitioner or modern medicine practitioner, a good doctor can cure diseases and save lives."
  • "That's right!"
  • A medical expert then handed over a wooden box to Gabriel. "This is the prize for first place in this conference. Please make a trip and pass it to Cole."
  • In the special ward, Cole was carefully wiping Anna's body with a wet towel.
  • In fact, each special ward was equipped with a dedicated nurse, but Cole sent her off as he wanted to take care of his unconscious wife himself.
  • He would never forget the fact that Anna took care of him for three years.
  • After he was done with everything, Cole covered her with a blanket, sat cross-legged on the empty bed, and began to practice the cultivation methods he inherited from Dragon Doctor.
  • Strands of Qi overflowed from his cinnabar field and surrounded him. Soon, his Qi became even more refined and gradually turned into a golden light as if the Giant Dragon of Nine Heavens surrounded him.
  • Cole was currently not just a miracle doctor but also a cultivator.
  • The realm of a cultivator was divided into Qi cultivation, foundation building, core formation, and more.
  • Currently, Cole was practicing a cultivation method called Dragon Doctor's Art of Benefitting Mankind. As long as he cured patients and saved lives, he could obtain merit and virtue. Through continuous efforts of saving lives in the past few days, he was able to achieve the Level Three Qi Cultivator.
  • After the cultivation, he opened his eyes and glanced at the door while saying, "Come in!"
  • Gabriel, who had been standing at the door waiting for some time, shuddered after hearing Cole's demand. Pushing the door open gently, he passed the box in his hands to Cole.
  • "Mr. Stuart, this is the reward for the first prize winner of the exchange conference—the thousand-year-old ginseng."
  • Cole glanced at them. "Hmm, I have to refine a pill. Do you happen to have a high-quality pill furnace with you?"
  • "You can even refine pills?" Gabriel stared at him in awe. Pill refiners in Broynia were close to extinction, so every single ancient pill in the market could easily be sold at a price of hundreds of thousands.
  • If Cole was really a pill refiner, what it meant was self-evident.
  • "Yes, I do, but my pill furnace is at my private villa in Esterburn. I'll send someone to bring it over."
  • An hour later, an ancient bronze furnace was delivered by a helicopter.
  • Even though the pill furnace was quite old, the quality was pretty ordinary. Hence, it was possible to refine normal pills with it.
  • Madison then ordered her subordinates to make space for Cole to refine his pills.
  • "These are the supplementary ingredients for pill refining, Mr. Stuart!" Gabriel informed him and turned to leave.
  • "You don't have to go. You can stay here and observe the process."
  • When Cole made that offer, Gabriel's eyes lit up.
  • "Thank you so much, Mr. Stuart! Thank you so much!"
  • Once the preparations were done, Cole started refining the pills.
  • Since there was no spiritual energy of heaven and earth, he made use of the gas to heat the furnace.
  • Following the increase in temperature, the sound of fire crackling resonated from the furnace.
  • Once the crackling sounds reached their maximum, Cole shook the furnace and poured some water in it to condense it.
  • He repeated the same action several times and slowly adjusted the power of the flame to a minimum before adding the herbs.
  • An hour later, the herbal smell wafted out of the pill furnace.
  • "Is it almost done?" Gabriel looked at the furnace and exclaimed in excitement.
  • "Not quite yet!"
  • Cole proceeded to increase the fire, and when the crackling sound resonated, he cooled the furnace down again.
  • "Now is the key to producing the medicine. If the fire is too high, the pill cannot be fully coagulated. It is then called a crude drug, and the potency of the drug will be greatly reduced. On the contrary, if the fire is too low, the pill will not only burn, it is also a common occurrence that the furnace will explode."
  • Gabriel felt like a student learning from a great master after hearing Cole's explanation, and at the same time, his respect for Cole grew.
