Chapter 10 The Reason
- Gordon came to a halt. He dared not dismiss Skylar as he felt he couldn't fully understand the young man.
- Whether it was his composure, strategic mind, or martial arts skills, Skylar was truly exceptional in every respect.
- Gordon even considered Skylar to be on the same level as him. Howard was simply not worthy to be his opponent.
- “What would you like to say?” he asked, his heart filled with caution.
- “I just wanted to remind you that every day you delay dealing with your son's parasitic poison shaves off at least half a month from his lifespan. We can afford to wait for this deal, but your son cannot!”
- Gordon secretly clenched his fists, forcing himself to suppress his anger. He hadn't expected that this young man would see through his true intention and even use it to pressure him.
- “Also, I can't quite concur with your previous statement. You said that even if your son dies, you could still have another one. What I'm trying to say is, given your current health condition, if you truly are able to have a son, you might have to question whether you've been cheated on!”
- “You!”
- Gordon's expression shifted. The severe injury he had suffered decades ago had left him incapable of having offspring again.
- Only a select few trusted aides knew about his health condition, and he primarily sought medical treatment in foreign hospitals.
- Whenever someone asked him why he didn't want more children, he would say that he wanted to devote all his love to Howard. This excuse seemed quite compelling.
- Who would have known that today, right here, Skylar would unexpectedly expose his deepest secret?
- “You're just a kid, so what do you know? Stop spouting nonsense here!”
- Infuriated and embarrassed, Gordon turned on his heel and stormed out, leaving the Weiss family in the parlor.
- Everyone watched Skylar, their emotions incredibly complex.
- People were inherently selfish, and the Weiss family was no exception. After Wallace passed away, they all hoped to become the one who would take his place.
- Yet, a major shareholder descended seemingly out of nowhere, forcing the entire Weiss family to bow to his every whim. Naturally, this left them feeling upset.
- However, they then recalled that the young man had grown up in a monastery and would likely be clueless about business operations. Therefore, marginalizing him and turning him into a puppet wouldn't be a difficult task.
- To their surprise, the recent face-off between Skylar and Gordon revealed his keen business acumen.
- In other words, he was not clueless about business. Trying to deceive Skylar to gain control over the Weiss family's assets wouldn't be such an easy task after all!
- Wallace rose to his feet, giving Skylar a hearty pat on the shoulder. His gaze was filled with admiration.
- “Sky, I must say, I never realized you had such a knack for business. How did you come to learn all this?”
- “Old Mr. Weiss, all of this was taught to me by my fifth master. Before he took to the mountains for his cultivation, he was a highly successful businessman and corporate manager. I learned all my business knowledge from him.”
- “Oh, could you tell me who it is? I might know them,” Wallace asked curiously.
- “I'm sorry, Grandpa Wallace,” Skylar said solemnly. “Before I descended the mountain, my masters strictly instructed me not to disclose their identities. They don't want their lives to be disturbed.”
- “Oh, I see. Forgive me for asking then.”
- Skylar's fifth master, a man named Tyrell Gavell, was the renowned founder and chairman of the globally recognized Tyrell Investment Group.
- This investment group, with a history of just over forty years, held controlling stakes in several Fortune Global 500 companies.
- And yet, this business prodigy faded from public view just as his career was at its peak.
- He chose to retreat into the mountains for cultivation, remotely managing his own business from the highlands.
- He also unreservedly imparted all his lifelong knowledge, business acumen, and unique insights to Skylar.
- Wallace took a couple of steps forward, then suddenly spun around to address the Weiss family, “At 7 o'clock tonight, there will be a meeting at the conference room. It is mandatory for the heads of each household to attend!”
- “Understood, Old Mr. Weiss!” the crowd responded.
- ...
- Before Gordon even returned home, he immediately arranged for someone to investigate who the Parasite King was and what exactly the Divine Strength Parasite was.
- Not long after he returned home, information on the Parasite King appeared on his desk.
- Upon looking through the information, Gordon couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine. The actions of this person were nothing short of demonic!
- The Parasite King, in his pursuit of his goals, was ruthless and unscrupulous. He was particularly adept at using various parasites to manipulate and coerce others into risking their lives for his cause. Those who dared to defy him would meet a gruesome end - being devoured by the parasites from the inside out!
- Even though he was virtually unknown to the average person in the mundane world, within certain special departments of Clusia, this man was a most-wanted criminal!
- Gordon could never have imagined that his son would somehow get involved with such a character.
- He swiftly burst into his son's room, landing a slap across the face of Howard, who was sitting on the bed, lost in thought.
- “Dad, what are you doing?” Howard asked, his face showing utter confusion after being hit.
- “I came to ask you how you got involved with the Parasite King!”
- “The Parasite King? Who is that?”
- “Stop playing dumb with me! What's the deal with that Divine Strength Parasite in you?”
- Howard was genuinely terrified of Gordon. When he realized his secret had been exposed, he had no choice but to confess.
- “I honestly don't know any Parasite King. There was this really powerful, enigmatic individual who approached me. He promised to make me stronger, and in return, all I had to do was do some tasks for him...”
- “Y-You fool! Do you even realize what you've done? You can't possibly pay the true price of this matter!”
- Gordon pointed at his son, launching into a tirade!
- ...
- At seven in the evening, the high-ranking members of the Weiss family gathered together in the Weiss residence's conference room.
- The facilities within the conference room were incredibly modern, and it was equipped with the most advanced anti-eavesdropping devices. At the same time, elites from the Weiss family stood guard outside the room.
- Wallace sat at the head of the table, with Bianca and Skylar flanking him on either side. They looked like a match made in heaven, and there was no denying how well they complemented each other.
- Also present at the meeting was Wallace's eldest son, who was none other than Bianca's father, Trevor.
- Seated next to Trevor were Wallace's other two sons, Finnegan and Aaron.
- Across from them sat two women - Bianca's paternal aunts, Jolynn and Josephine.
- Besides these few individuals, there were also key confidants of the Weiss family, such as Maxim.
- Wallace lifted his gaze and scanned the room full of people. His eyes were sharp and piercing, exuding an aura similar to that of a lion surveying his own territory.
- Everyone was as quiet as a church mouse, with a few even lowering their heads, not daring to meet the elderly man's gaze.
- “You all have truly let me down! I fell ill, and in just a few months of me not managing our Weiss family's businesses, you've created such a mess for me! Thirty percent of the shares were taken by the Burton family. Do you guys even understand what this means!”
- Everyone kept their heads down, not daring to respond. The situation at hand was undeniably linked to certain people present and their reckless actions!
- They wouldn't dare to jinx themselves by getting involved in this!
