Chapter 6
- A dull, throbbing pain behind her eyes was the first thing Renee registered when she opened her eyes in the morning, closed them back the next second. She swallowed to ease the weight of lump sensation on her chest for a couple of seconds. She stirred, her eyelids peeling back with a painful slowness. The room was no longer dark; a pale, grey light filtered through a crack in the curtains, painting the walls in a soft morning glow. The smell of male musk, stale alcohol, and something else – something she couldn't place – filled her nostrils. Then it hit when she eyes spotted her clothes and a man’s underwear next to it. It was not her room.
- She froze.
- She instantly became aware of a heavy muscular arm was draped across her stomach, holding her close to a large, warm body. The man's face was buried in her hair, his breath warm and even against her neck. She couldn't see his face, but the scent was all wrong. It wasn't Kelvin.
