Chapter 20
- Taylor’s hands clenched into fists at his sides. He took a predatory step forward, his eyes burning with accusation.
- “You arrogant, overconfident bastard!” Taylor hissed, his voice dropping to a dangerous low volume, which was infinitely more threatening than his earlier roar. “You went straight to offer her ten million without at least trying to convince her? Ten million pounds?! I told you to convince her! To open negotiations for an out-of-court settlement! I told you to assess the situation, not to throw the entire contents of a bank vault at a traumatized woman barely a few days after the incident!”
- He jabbed a finger at Max’s chest. “That was a negotiation opener for a serious criminal case, Max, not a quick fix for a call center bank employee! You gave her the proof! You confirmed every single dark suspicion she had! Your stupid, fast bribe will convince her that I intentionally took advantage of her! You handed her the weapon, Max! You ruined it!”
