Chapter 6
- The room is dimly lit, filled with the scent of burning wood and the low murmur of voices. Blood Pack members sit around a large table, their expressions guarded and skeptical. Tony, Soraya’s trainer, and Demi, the healer, stand before them, faces resolute. Demi invited them to his home tonight and no one dares to refuse the healer’s invitation.
- Tony said firmly, “We appreciate you meeting with us. We’re here to talk about the future of our pack and why Soraya is the right choice for Alpha.”
- One of the members, LUCAS, a burly and stern-looking man, leans back in his chair, arms crossed.
- Lucas was skeptical, “Many of us have already pledged our support to Sabas for Mark’s succession. Promises have been made, and political favors offered.”
- There are murmurs of agreement around the table. Tony glances at Demi, who steps forward with a calm, authoritative presence.
- Demi said calmly, “We understand Sabas has been making promises. But we need to think beyond immediate gains. Soraya’s leadership isn’t just about political favors; it’s about the long-term survival and prosperity of our pack.”
- Lucas frowns, “What makes Soraya any different? What can she offer that Mark and Sabas can’t?”
- Tony steps forward, his voice filled with conviction. “Soraya has the strength, the vision, and the determination to lead us into a better future. She intends to seek the support and alliance of the Supreme Ruler of all Werewolves – the Lycan King.”
- The room falls silent, the weight of Tony’s words sinking in. The members exchange uneasy glances, clearly taken aback by this revelation.
- Lucas raised an eyebrow, “The Lycan King? That’s ambitious. And risky. What makes you think she can succeed?”
- Demi said confidently “Soraya is willing to do what it takes to secure our future. The Lycan King’s favor would elevate our pack above all others, ensuring our safety and strength. It’s a bold move, but it could change everything for us.”
- Another member, Max, a sharp-eyed man with an air of authority, speaks up. “If Soraya truly intends to seek the Lycan King’s alliance, it shows she’s thinking beyond petty politics. It’s a gamble, but it could pay off in ways Sabas’ promises never could.”
- There are nods of agreement and murmurs of consideration. Tony senses the shift and presses on. “Soraya’s vision is for a pack that stands united, strong, and respected by all. She’s not looking for short-term gains but a future where we all thrive.”
- Demi looks around the room, his eyes meeting those of the pack members. “We ask for your support in the trial by influence. Not just for Soraya, but for the future she represents. A future where our pack isn’t just surviving, but leading.”
- The members exchange glances, weighing the words of Tony and Demi. Lucas finally nods, his expression thoughtful. “We’ll consider what you’ve said. But know this – we’ll be watching closely. Soraya will need to prove herself.” Max added firmly, “If she’s serious about the Lycan King, she’ll have our attention. But actions speak louder than words.”
- Tony nods, “Fair enough. That’s all we ask.” Tony and Demi exchange a look of quiet triumph as the pack members turn to leave. The Blood Pack members, show mixed expressions of doubt and hope and they keep on whispering with each other.
- Soraya steps outside her house, the weight of her responsibilities clear in her determined stride. As she walks down the path, lost in thought, she suddenly hears laughter. She looks up to see MARK and ARA approaching, their expressions filled with mockery and disdain.
- “Well, well, if it isn’t our aspiring Alpha. I hear you’ve got some grand plans, cousin. Seeking allegiance from the Lycan King, no less.” Mark smirks.
- Ara, standing close to Mark, chuckles and crosses her arms, her eyes glinting with malice. “Do you really think you have what it takes to impress the Lycan King? This isn’t some fairy tale, Soraya. He won’t be swayed by your desperate attempts.” She said mockingly.
- Soraya straightens, meeting their taunts with a calm but steely gaze. “I’m doing what I believe is best for the pack. The Lycan King’s favor could secure our future and protect us from internal strife.”
- Mark laughs, “You really think you can pull this off? You can barely hold your own here, and now you’re aiming for the stars?”
- Ara sneered, “You’re not even the Alpha yet, Soraya. The trial for succession is fast approaching, and you’re already biting off more than you can chew.”
- Soraya clenches her fists, feeling the sting of their words but refusing to let it show. She takes a step closer to them, her voice unwavering. “I may not be the Alpha yet, but I’m not backing down. The pack needs strong leadership, and I intend to provide that. If you can’t see that, then you’re the ones who are blind.”
- Mark’s expression darkens, his eyes narrowing with anger. He takes a threatening step towards Soraya. “Watch your tone, cousin. You’re not in charge here. Not yet. Mark said coldly.”
- Ara leans in, her voice dripping with condescension. “And don’t expect any help from us. We’ll ensure everyone sees just how unfit you are to lead.” She said mockingly.
- Soraya stands her ground, her eyes blazing with determination. She knows their words are meant to break her, but she refuses to let them succeed. “I don’t need your approval or your help. I’ll prove myself, with or without your support. The pack will see who truly has their best interests at heart.” She said calmly.
- Mark and Ara exchange glances, clearly taken aback by Soraya’s unwavering resolve. They scoff and turn away, leaving her standing alone but undeterred.
- As they walk away, Soraya takes a deep breath, her resolve even stronger. She knows the path ahead is fraught with challenges, but she’s ready to face them head-on. ‘Don’t let them get to you Soraya,’ Amethyst whispered. ‘I hope, I’m right Amethyst because tomorrow morning I will set out to deliver our tribute to the Lycan King so I can have an audience with him.’
