Chapter 16

• Ricky moves through the forest with urgency, his eyes scanning the darkness. He uses their mind-link to call out to her, worry etched across his features. “Soraya, where are you? Answer me!” He came to check on her tonight but could not sense her there. He catches her faint scent on the wind and follows it deeper into the forest, his heart pounding with fear for her safety.
• Soraya wakes up groggily, her head pounding like a drum. She looks around, her vision blurry and her mind foggy. The cave is dark and damp, the sound of dripping water echoing around her like a haunting melody.
• ‘Where am I?’ She wondered weakly. She could feel her head throbbed. ‘What kind of wine did I drink last night?’ She looked at her surroundings but it was very dark. She struggles to sit up, the effects of the sedative still lingering in her system. Panic starts to set in as she realizes she is trapped in an unfamiliar place.
