Chapter 40 Ending The War
- The cheers and chants eventually died down as warriors returned to their posts or headed to the medical tents. I caught Kaelan's eye and nodded toward a quiet corner where we could speak privately.
- "We need to talk," I said once we were out of earshot.
- "Before you say anything," Kaelan started, cutting me off before I could get three words out. "I just wanted to explain my side of things. The reason I was in the lawyer's estate the day of the murder was because I've been tracking the rogue assassin ever since he killed your family three years ago."
