• My husband, for reasons I did not understand, was becoming a nuisance. He’d just emerged from the hospital, checking in as the newest doctor on the camp. He hadn’t wasted time coming to find me again. Declaring he loved me and our love could fix our broken marriage. I found it ridiculous. Elian dismissed the existence of his pregnant mate ever so easily. He even dared to show me a few cookies his mother had baked and sent over to me, as a way to make amends. As he tried to force us into good terms, I found myself wondering : What was Elian truly after?
