Chapter 5

  • Lily PoV
  • "I miss you so much, Lily." He murmured.
  • It was sweet to my ears, yet this is not my purpose for our conversation. I find my own body liking the scene. How can someone's hug so comforting? There were tears welled in my eyes and I tried my very best to hold it.
  • I never felt lonely until this time and I don't want it to end but it must end.
  • I uncrossed my arms on his waist and pushed James lightly until we were no longer hugging. The cold wind then replaced his warmth and I already missed it.
  • "I know you were lonely, goodness, who can stay alone in this house?" He said.
  • "I did and I am not lonely," I replied, and the last word was a lie.
  • "But your face said so." He insisted and I don't want to deal with it any longer.
  • "James, I would like to define and clear things with you," I said seriously, and he crossed his arms while his body was leaning on the facade.
  • "First, I want to know how long you will stay here?" I asked.
  • "One month." His answer made my heart race.
  • I was partly happy and worried at the same time. What is his business here for a month? Even if I'm curious, I chose not to dig in the details.
  • "Alright, so for a month, please allow me to serve you like your housekeeper. I'll do everything before and after school that includes cooking and cleaning the house but limited to personal requests. There might be times when I'm not around if you needed me due to school projects, but I will make sure to do them if I can." My long statement.
  • "And I would really like to stay it that way, Sir James." I started and he chuckled.
  • "And lastly, whatever we had in the past is past. I wished not to bring it up as I already forget them." This statement was not part of my plan.
  • He looked at me blankly and I realized it might hit a spot but was it important? If it matters then I should have heard from him, but nothing for ten years.
  • "On that note, if there's nothing else you want me to do, I would like to call it a night," I added, and I received no response from him, so I started to leave.
  • "Is this what you want?" He asked making me stop and I nodded without facing him.
  • "What if, I don't like it?" He asked then I faced him.
  • "What do you mean?" I asked with a rising chest.
  • "Nothing, it's just that you are so serious, Lily." His only answer as he studied my face.
  • "I am because that's my rightful position," I said but, in a whisper, he can hear.
  • "Go, let's call it a night." He said and I saw how he smiled playfully in the dark.
  • "Goodnight, Lily." His final words as I hurriedly walked back to my room.
  • There is something in his smile I cannot put on.
