Chapter 2

  • Lily PoV
  • There is a feeling I can't describe the moment I opened the gate of the Gonzales' mansion.
  • My heartbeats erratically which made me worry about, knowing my mother died because of heart failure or maybe I'm just tired and sleepy. The last semester's thesis really burnt me out.
  • The green grass causing me to relax at least as I walk slowly with head down and decided to ignore the uneasiness I felt.
  • The place was so quiet especially it was still morning and I'm the only person in this big house. A place with happy memories and a sad one which made my lips curved bitterly.
  • I was eight at that time that I already able to remember events especially a specific person, very clearly. A person which I tried to forget as he was long has forgotten me.
  • The silence of the house welcomed me as I emerged myself inside. This is my home for three years now and never once did he visits his own house. Thinking of him in a tired and sleepy state angers me, I didn't know I became frustrated each day, month and year passed by.
  • I know deep inside that I'm also waiting for him, for his comeback and each year made me totally believe that it's now impossible to even if he has the reason to, this is their house but he never came.
  • My heart clenched as if it was hurt, I kept denying it. I kept denying because I'm afraid that it's only me who remembers, it is only me who hopes, who waits and is hurting.
  • I walked going to the kitchen, I need a glass of water to calm my heavy heart. I didn't know why I'm feeling this way, every time I'm thinking of him.
  • A cold glass of water was a good help as it soothes me. I was facing the sink when I heard footsteps, my heart raced at that.
  • The light steps were approaching me. The house was quiet that I was able to hear them clearly. My heart beats faster thinking it might be some burglar who gets inside the house.
  • I remembered locking the door securely and how can someone break-in?
  • I hold the glass tightly as I think of ways to fight the person who is already at my back, his presence was strong as I feel the heat emitted by his body.
  • "Lily." A deep voice called for my name before I can even face him.
  • He knows me.
  • I faced the person calling my name and I dropped the glass I'm holding in the process.
  • Ten years have passed but I know too well that it is him, he is James I'm facing.
  • I didn't know that my heart can beat more faster than before as if it is about to explode.
  • "I'm sorry if I surprised you." He said worriedly seeing the scattered, broken glass on the floor.
  • The years really molded him well. He is already a man, a beautiful one.
  • And before I can do something embarrassing, I ran outside the house.
  • His presence is too much to bear.
