Chapter 5
- Mildred's POV
- I tossed and turned sleepily on the bed, trying to touch the person I spent the night with, but the bed was empty.
- I became agitated when I looked around and didn't see his clothes on the ground they were lying last night. I quickly rushed to the bathroom, but he wasn't there.
- I thought as much, Mildred, you're just a fool.
- I sat down and placed my two hands on my face, allowing tears to flow freely down my face.
- Where could he be, where has he gone to? What came over me last night, why did I give in to a total stranger?
- So many questions were running through my mind, and a call on my phone brought me back.
- I rushed to get the phone, hoping he was the one calling to say he was sorry for leaving.
- I picked up my phone to see that it was already past eight-forty and it was my boss from the magazine company that was calling.
- Oh my God!
- First of all, I met and slept with a total stranger, the same day I met him. Secondly, I drank to stupor for the first time in my life. Thirdly, I kept late night, forgetting completely about my job. And finally, I'm waking up at this time of the day!
- 'How did I become like this? Who is this man? Is he even a man? Maybe he's a ghost that used his spiritual powers on me to make me fall... Mildred you are done for. 'I thought as I cried harder.
- 'No need to cry Mill, it's not too late, you'll be fine.' I assured myself.
- I got up and quickly put on my clothes, as I couldn't wait to bath and there was no clothes to change into if I bath.
- I wanted to open the door when it opened on it's own accord. I thought and hoped it was him, but to my disappointment, it was the room service.
- "Oh.. no! You ruined my breakfast on bed surprise." He grumbled and I smiled, wiping off a straying tears.
- "Were you by any chance crying?" He asked and I shook my head.
- "Lies." He smirked, as he took the food to the bed and I followed him, still unable to believe what just happened.
- I sat with him to a breakfast of scotch eggs, toasted bread and cereals.
- 'He has such a weird taste.' I laughed.
- "I'm sorry for giving you a wrong impression." He apologized and I beamed.
- "Let's talk about each other," he said and I raised my head in surprise.
- "Wh.. what are we?" I blurted.
- "What do you mean? You are my mate, sorry, my wife to be." He replied without thinking.
- "Wife to be when we just met?" I asked, looking fixedly at him.
- "We made love last night.." he started, and I quickly covered his mouth with my two hands. He shook his head and my hands fell off. "Does that count for something?"
- I was left speechless.
- "I don't make love to just anyone. Mildred, you are everything I want." He said and brought his lips close to mine, and I closed my eyes.
- I couldn't fathom what was making me give in this much, I had never felt the way I was feeling for him all my life and I couldn't explain it.
- "Wh.. who are you?" I managed to ask, after a brief kiss.
- "I'm Alpha Arnold McLean of the floral white pack," he replied, and I started laughing.
- "You are so funny.." I started, but paused to think. "Are you a schizophrenic?" I covered mouth with my hands.
- I knew I shouldn't ask such question, but I didn't give it a thought, I just said it on impulse, maybe I have bipolar.
- The strange guy removed my hand from mouth, smiling sheepishly at me.
- "You shall know more about me with time, but for now, let's be together, please stay with me and I will take care of all your needs..." I didn't let him finish his statement, before cutting in.
- "My needs?" I snapped. "Are you mocking me? I can take care of myself, I can foot my bills."
- I was getting angry as I spoke, as it felt like he was trying to look down on me, but I felt his soft, succulent lips on mine and everything evaporated.
- "I'm sorry about what I said earlier, I didn't mean it that way. Please, can we eat? The food is getting cold." He pleaded and I obliged him.
- "Mildred, I want to spend forever with you, I want to take you to where I live, I want to make you my queen forever." He said, holding my hand.
- I almost choked on the food in my mouth, as I wasn't expecting all he was saying.
- "Are you a king?" I asked.
- "Ehmmm, you could say I'm a king, but not the way you humans see it."
- His response was so scary that the spoon I was using to eat fell off my hand.
- "Who are you?" I got up from where I was sitting, as my mind left me and started running miles.
- He got up and walked to me. "Don't be scared Milly." He tried to hold my hand, but I moved back.
- "But I'm scared, as a matter of fact, I'm very scared." Taking a deep breath, I adjusted backwards.
- "I was only saying, I'm a human like you, so you don't have to panic." He attempted grabbing my hand again, but I pushed him off.
- He staggered back and stood again. I wanted to believe him, but I couldn't wrap my head around why I was acting that way.
- "Have you ever encountered anything out of the ordinary before?" He asked and I nodded.
- I suddenly remembered when I was much younger, I saw something strange and terrifying that when I told my parents, they thought I was imagining things.
- The memory was so terror-stricken that I forgot everything about it, so why the hell is going the memory coming now?
- "I am waiting for an answer." His warm voice brought me back.
- "I don't know.. I'm not sure." I said and sat back on the bed.
- After managing to eat quietly, I decided it was time to go, since I couldn't meet up with the magazine company, at least I could go to the gym.
- "Thank you for everything, but I have to go now." I said and got up.
- "Please don't go Mildred, stay with me." He held my hand, stopping me in track.
- I hated those words the most, I was deceived with those words. I've been so hurt by men that I didn't want to talk about it with anybody.
- "After the betrayal I experienced almost a week ago, I didn't know I could want anyone else in my life, but Mildred, I want you." He mumbled those words in a way that I would have fell for him, if it wasn't for the heartbeat I had experienced.
- "I have to leave now." I said, snatching my hand from his grip.
- "I..." He started to say, but I cut him off.
- "If we meet again, I shall give you audience, that means it's fate, but don't look for me." I said and walked out, hoping he'd follow me and make me stop.
