- My feet ached as I climbed the stairs to my apartment. Fourteen hours split between the hospital morning shift and Murphy's Diner evening rush had left me running on fumes and determination.
- The hospital had been manageable. Patricia brought me lunch again, despite my protests that I could buy my own food. Keisha mentioned that no more "concerning calls" had come in this week, which felt like a small victory.
