Chapter 19 Real Bracelet

  • "Why are you so harsh on Aiden?" Harvey glared at Linda with a grim expression, for her words were vicious.
  • When Linda realized her husband was mad, she said meekly, "I'm just telling the truth."
  • Aiden looked at Linda and sneered, "A real ginseng has longer and stronger roots, and there are knots of different sizes on the surface. That's how we know it is real ginseng. On the other hand, if a ginseng's surface is white and smooth, coupled with a crisp texture, then we know it's fake. Even if it's real, it's probably a farm-grown one with little to no nutritional value. Look at this ginseng!"
  • Then, everyone turned to look at Titan's ginseng, which was white and smooth. However, none of them uttered a word.
  • "There are some knots on the roots. It is real ginseng. Moreover, why would Titan buy a fake one?" Linda said with disbelief.
  • "That's right. It's not like Titan doesn't have money. Why would he do such a thing?" Carmen uttered.
  • No one believed Aiden. Even if Aiden was right, none of them wanted to offend Titan. Just then, Titan snorted. "Does a good-for-nothing like you know anything about ginseng?"
  • Instead of giving in, Aiden went on to say, "A real ginseng has aged skin that looks yellow or brown. Your ginseng is pale and smooth, so it's definitely fake."
  • Angelina frowned at that. Since they returned from the family gathering the other day, Aiden seemed to have transformed into a different person. Not only had he learned to talk back, but he was also domineering sometimes.
  • If something similar happened in the past, the incident would've ended early on, and Aiden would've apologized. However, Aiden felt relentless then.
  • "Addie, let's stop right here. I think the ginseng is real." In fact, upon hearing Aiden's ways to identify real ginseng, Harvey knew that Titan's gift was fake. However, he had no idea if Titan had deliberately bought a fake one or if he had been conned.
  • Despite that, Harvey decided to smooth things over as they were all family.
  • "I can guarantee that Titan's ginseng is real!" Linda glared at Aiden.
  • Staring back at the older woman, Aiden sneered, "Oh? How?"
  • "I said I could do that!" Linda was terrified of Aiden's gaze. Nonetheless, since so many relatives were around, she couldn't back down. Meanwhile, she thought, Why would I be afraid of such a useless man?
  • "You believe his ginseng is real merely because he's rich. You think that I'm worthless, so I don't have the right to accuse him of anything. I'll show you whether this ginseng is real!" With that, Aiden took the ginseng from the box and entered the kitchen.
  • They then followed Aiden and saw him picking up a knife. What is he trying to do?
  • "You b*stard, Aiden! If you dare cut my ginseng, I won't let you off!" Titan's eyes reddened from the extreme emotions.
  • Only Titan realized what Aiden was trying to do. Upon hearing his words, the others finally understood that Aiden was going to cut the ginseng.
  • "Put down the knife, Aiden!" Angelina entered the kitchen and barked.
  • It was supposed to be a joyful reunion where the relatives gathered together to welcome Harvey home. Therefore, Aiden's behavior was embarrassing.
  • Aiden turned to look at Angelina and snapped, "You always think that I'm wrong!"
  • The next moment, he brought the knife down and cut the ginseng into pieces. "Let's give this expensive ginseng a taste," announced Aiden with pure confidence.
  • Gary was the first to approach Aiden and picked up a piece of ginseng. After giving it a taste, he directly spat it onto the ground.
  • "What's this? It's sour and astringent. It tastes like a rotten carrot! Have you really been conned, Titan?" There was a hint of smugness behind Gary's gaze.
  • When Aiden saw Gary's expression, he secretly sneered. Although Gary and Titan were both Corina's sons-in-law, they were not on good terms. That was because Corina always complimented Titan while giving Gary the cold shoulder. The main reason was that Titan was richer than Gary.
  • "There's no way it's fake! Do you even know what ginseng tastes like?" Titan snapped.
  • "Give it a taste yourself, then," Gary said with a smile.
  • Then, Linda entered the kitchen and put a piece of ginseng into her mouth before saying, "It's real. Ginseng tastes just like this!"
  • As Aiden looked at how Linda was lying, he scoffed, "Are you sure?"
  • Despite what Linda said, everyone knew that Titan's ginseng was most likely fake.
  • "Even if it's fake, I put in the effort to buy it. You didn't even give your father-in-law anything!" Titan glowered at Aiden.
  • With an impassive expression, Aiden questioned, "How do you know I didn't prepare anything?"
  • "Oh? Show us, then!" Titan laughed scornfully.
  • Only then did Aiden fish out the bracelet he had bought while on the way to the airport and presented it to Harvey. "I know you love bracelets. It's for you."
  • "That's great! I'm pleased." Harvey took the bracelet with a smile, but Linda snatched it from him the next moment. As Linda looked at the price tag, she laughed. "Ten grand? It's hilarious! You said that Titan's ginseng is fake. What about you? You bought a bracelet from a street vendor and gave it to Harvey. Don't you think it's laughable?"
  • Corina, Janice, and their family members snickered.
  • "It's the first time I see someone presenting a bracelet bought from a street vendor to his father-in-law."
  • "He lives up to his name as a good-for-nothing. That's a really special gift. How did he have the nerve to give it to his father-in-law?"
  • Just then, Aiden refuted dispassionately, "How do you know it's from a street vendor?"
  • "Can you even afford something worth ten grand? Even if you wanted to put on an act, you should've gotten something more decent. If you told us it was worth several hundred, we would've believed you. Now you're telling us it's worth ten grand. Do you think we're dumb?" Titan sneered.
  • With a dismissive look, Linda hurled the bracelet to the ground and stamped on it. "Stop embarrassing us!"
  • Then, Harvey picked up the bracelet and examined it. Much to his surprise, it was a real bracelet that was indeed worth ten grand. Just as he was about to ask where Aiden got the money, Angelina said coldly, "Stop putting on an act, will you?"
  • Since Angelina had spoken, the others started jeering at Aiden.
  • "It's a shame that you've found a good-for-nothing as your husband, Angelina!"
  • "He's such a disgrace!"
  • Corina stared at Aiden contemptuously. "Angelina, do you remember Ryan? The one you met the other day. He's Gary's brother. He's such a wonderful guy. I think you should consider dating him. It's embarrassing to live with this kind of hopeless man."
  • "That's enough!" Aiden roared. "Do you think the bracelet is fake?"
  • "Could it be real, then?" someone questioned.
  • Aiden fished out the receipt, which showed that the bracelet was bought from Flair Antiques. There was also a contact number. "You all know that every Flair product has a serial number. There's no way it's fake!"
  • After the call was connected, Aiden turned on the loudspeaker and asked the customer service representative to check the serial number. A moment later, the representative replied gently, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Sir. The bracelet has been verified to be authentic, and it's worth ten grand."
