Chapter 14 1.5 Million Consultation Fees!

  • "Please find me a set of silver needles for acupuncture, glass cups, and an alcohol burner. Thank you."
  • Right after Aiden mentioned the items, Zachary had already jumped to his feet and disappeared down the hall, yelling, "I'll get it!"
  • Aiden smiled lightly as he thought, The Thatchers are very well-mannered. Judging from how respectful the younger generations were to their elders, he reckoned that they had high moral standards.
  • Just a few minutes later, Zachary panted heavily as he returned with a set of acupuncture needles in a pouch and a few glass cups. Then, Aiden took the needles from him and checked them, only to realize that the neatly arranged needles inside were golden, not silver.
  • After he opened and closed the pouch several times, a smile suddenly spread across his face.
  • When the others noticed the smile on his face, everyone was bewildered. Zachary even blurted out anxiously, "Mr. Finnegan, is there a problem with these gold needles? I'll look for another set right away if they are unsuitable."
  • "Oh yes, nothing is more suitable for the job than these. I wonder if you can give these needles to me after the treatment?" Aiden asked with a smile and turned to look at Jeffrey.
  • "Those are just some gold needles. If you like them, you can just take them afterward. This is nothing as long as you can cure Grandpa," Zachary said candidly.
  • "Truth be told, I've been looking for a set of gold needles, but they're simply too rare!"
  • "I see. It wouldn't be a waste to let you have them, then!"
  • Without further ado, Aiden instructed Jeffrey to remove his clothing until he only wore a pair of shorts.
  • When Aiden gazed at the old man's body which was covered in scars from knife cuts, gunshot wounds, and so forth, he was deeply moved. He reckoned that Jeffrey was a man that had been through many near-death experiences during his time in the force.
  • Finally, he took a deep breath, efficiently marked Jeffrey's acupuncture areas on his chest, turned him to his back, and picked up the needle pouch. Within seconds, countless needles stood from Jeffrey's back and legs, and he lay there like a human hedgehog.
  • After he applied the needles to Jeffrey's body, Jeffrey's face suddenly turned scarlet, and his eyes popped, which made him look terrifying.
  • "Bear it! The success of this treatment lies in your endurance!" Aiden warned softly.
  • After his warning, the perturbed Thatchers, who were about to ask several questions, kept their mouths shut and gazed at Jeffrey with genuine concern in their eyes.
  • A long while later, Aiden kept away the needles and swayed a glass cup above the flames of the alcohol burner a few times before quickly placing it on Jeffrey's back. Then, he did the same for the rest of the dozen cups in a matter of seconds.
  • Once that was done, he stepped in front of Jeffrey and smacked Jeffrey's chest firmly, resulting in the cups on his back collecting black-colored blood that was oozing out from the very pores of his skin. The cups were filled in no time at all. Although Jeffrey couldn't see the state of his back, the Thatchers noticed as more darkened blood flowed out from his body, the more refreshed and comfortable Jeffrey felt based on his facial expression. Their deduction was correct as Jeffry did feel the pain ebb as it was replaced with an indescribable sense of comfort.
  • When all of the cups were filled, Aiden quickly removed them, wiped the sweat off his brow, and said to Daisy, "Take Mr. Thatcher for a shower. He should be fine now."
  • "Please wait for me, Mr. Finnegan," Jeffrey said and went to the second floor to clean up with Daisy's help.
  • When Aiden saw that Jeffrey had been taken away as per his instructions, he asked for a pen and paper, scribbled a prescription, and passed it to Zachary. He also intoned seriously, trying to convey the gravity of this situation to Zachary, "Prepare the herbs according to the prescription and boil three portions together until only one-third of the liquid is left. Make sure he drinks this once every three days. As long as he follows this prescription, he'll be completely cured in a month. Don't overdo it or miss a single step!"
  • After that, he sat on the couch, took huge gulps of water from the glass he grabbed from the coffee table, slumped into the seat, and released a long breath. This was his first time administering needles all over a patient's body, and it was both a nerve-wracking and exhausting experience for him. It looks like I have to speed up my training.
  • The attractive lady refilled his glass and said politely, "Mr. Finnegan, thank you for treating my father. How should I thank you?"
  • "Fiona, I already have an idea how to thank Mr. Finnegan." Before Aiden could answer, Jeffrey's voice echoed from upstairs, and his voice was louder and stronger than before.
  • "Mr. Finnegan, you really surprised me with your skills. Now, I feel like I could eat a cow, not to mention how comfortable my body feels."
  • Aiden's face held a trace of weariness as he said dispassionately, "I've given Mr. Thatcher the prescription. You'll be completely cured in one month if you take your medicine according to my instructions."
  • "Thank you, Mr. Finnegan!" Jeffrey said, shaking his hand gratefully before taking a seat across from him.
  • Next, he gestured to Zachary, who took out a piece of check and handed it to Aiden.
  • Aiden took the check graciously from him because he found it reasonable to accept consultation fees for treating Jeffrey today.
  • In his current situation, it was no longer suitable for him to put up a pretense!
  • Nevertheless, he still felt utterly dumbstruck when he saw the value of the check, but he smothered his expression within a split second. 1.5 million!
  • He smiled as he turned to Jeffrey. "Old Mr. Thatcher, won't you reconsider the costs?"
  • "My life is worth more than that measly sum! There's nothing the Thatchers can give you except this because we're filthy rich. Therefore, you have to accept this money!" Jeffrey said jovially.
  • Despite that, Aiden shook his head. "You're too kind. This money is exactly what I need. I'll accept it, then. Old Mr. Thatcher, there's something else that I need to ask from you."
  • Jeffrey didn't hesitate to agree as he said, "Speak your mind, Mr. Finnegan."
  • "Could you help me procure a medical license, please?" Aiden asked.
  • Jeffrey didn't say a word, but Zachary chimed in, "That's easy. I just need to make a call!" Then, he whisked out his phone, said a few things, and told Aiden, "Mr. Finnegan, please hang around for a few more minutes. The license will be sent here soon."
  • "So quickly?" Aiden asked with a somewhat dubious smile and only received Zachary's mysterious one in response.
  • The easy-going and cheerful manner that Aiden carried surprised Jeffrey, and he thought, This Mr. Finnegan should be the disciple of a highly skilled individual just judging from how he carried himself. I have to tell Zachary to be good friends with him later.
  • "Mr. Finnegan, since we're friends now and I'm not a smooth-talker, there's a question that I would like to ask you," Zachary asked, looking at Aiden.
  • Aiden didn't see anything wrong with that as he said, "It's okay. Just ask me anything."
  • "With your medical skills, why did you become a live-in son-in-law at the Grays?" Zachary asked, but right after that, Jeffrey lashed out angrily, "Zachary!"
  • In his opinion, Zachary's question had already invaded Aiden's privacy, which was deemed highly impolite.
  • "I don't mean anything else. I'm just curious," Zachary grumbled aggrievedly.
  • However, Aiden merely waved a hand as he dismissed Jeffrey's indignation on his behalf. "It's alright. There's no point explaining the reason, but it's a fact that I'm a live-in son-in-law at the Grays."
  • Curiosity swept over Jeffrey's heart at his answer because he didn't imagine that Aiden, with his superior medical skills, would willingly be a live-in son-in-law at the Grays.
  • A while later, when the license was delivered to the manor, Aiden stood up to take his leave and left the Thatcher Residence.
