Chapter 7 Mr Know It All

  • Josh was surprised by the surprising turn of events, but he still knew that the two men were actually doctors who worked in a nearby hospital. Thus, he naturally handed the prescription over to them with a smile. “Dr. Lewis, please take a look at the prescription. It should be fine, right?”
  • Fearing for his restaurant’s business, Josh was of course unwilling to upset either of them, but since Harvey seemed a little too young, he couldn’t help but wonder how his prescription was going to rid him of his illness within three days. However, unknown to Josh, Victor Lewis was not happy with his last few words. Seriously, Josh?! You’re a middle-aged man, yet you’re falling for this stupid scam!
  • Upon skimming through the prescription, Victor grunted and questioned Harvey. “What the hell are these things? How can you ever mix these two ingredients together?! This is absolute nonsense!”
  • Soon, Victor was joined by Charles Lynch, who smirked and glared at Harvey, as if he was really a phony. “Oh, come on! It looks like you’re going to have to work harder to be a better phony! These two ingredients don’t go hand in hand, bozo! You should have done your research!”
  • The two doctors, who worked in Vanstead Health Center, quickly lost interest in Harvey’s prescription after taking a quick skim through it. After all, they couldn’t believe the combination of the ingredients listed in Harvey’s prescription, thinking it would be a mistake to mix them together. Thus, they all reckoned that Harvey was unqualified to even be a phony.
  • After hearing the two doctors’ words, Josh’s heart began to flutter nervously. Deep down, he trusted Victor and Charles even more since they looked mature enough, not to mention their profession as doctors. Well, even the real doctors are saying that, so they must be correct. “Hey, buddy, it seems that…” Josh awkwardly puckered his lips. But this guy was able to list out my symptoms yesterday, so that must count for something, right? Moreover, he didn’t charge me any kind of fee, so it doesn’t seem like he is trying to con me for my money.
  • Harvey shot a gaze at Josh and calmly responded. “I’ll say this again—you will be cured within three days!” He then glimpsed at Victor and Charles with a sneer and said, “This prescription will not be rendered ineffective just because you don’t believe or understand it. So, stop fooling yourselves with your ignorance!”
  • Harvey’s words instantly got on Charles and Victor’s nerves as they were both graduates from Vanstead Medical Institute and were doctors who currently worked in Vanstead Health Center. Thus, they were offended to be called ignorant by Harvey. “Where did you graduate from, kid? Which hospital are you working in?”
  • Knowing that no one could pose as a doctor due to its high standard of requirements, the two men were eager to find out how good Harvey’s medical skills were by first asking the medical school he graduated from and the hospital he was working in. Judging from Harvey’s appearance, they both reckoned he was around 25 years old. He looks quite young and might have just completed his master’s degree, so I don’t think he’s even started working in any hospital yet. At the thought of that, one of them ridiculed Harvey and said, “Don’t think that you can go around fooling people just because you know a thing or two about the art of healing. What’s all that bullsh*t about getting rid of illness within three days? Tell me where you learned that and who you learned it from! We’d like to know more about the disease it could cure.”
  • In response to Victor’s demanding tone, Harvey knitted his eyebrows and answered, “Everything I know is self-taught. I haven’t been to a medical school, and neither have I worked in a hospital before.”
  • “Are you kidding me? Self-taught?!” Charles initially thought he was going to hear a famous name of a medical institute or a hospital from Harvey due to the latter’s mature look. Thus, he was amused by Harvey’s answer.
  • To medical school graduates like Victor and Charles, the self-taught Harvey was no different from a phony. After all, they reckoned he was just a cunning phony who talked his way out to fool anyone he decided to con. “You’ve got some nerves to play an amateur doctor after reading some medical guides, buddy!”
  • “Did you hear that, Josh? That guy said he hasn’t gone to a medical school before. Do you dare to use the prescription from a guy whose medical knowledge is all self-taught? Try it at your risk! Anything could happen if you try it, and if this guy is nowhere to be found then, don’t you come crying to us!”
  • Victor and Charles gazed at Josh with a sympathetic look while feeling gleeful on the inside, thinking Josh should probably thank them for exposing Harvey’s scheme. If it weren’t for us, you’d probably be fooled by this phony here.
  • Josh’s face turned pale after he heard their conversation. Since Harvey was the one who accurately pointed out his symptoms, Josh was confident with his cure until Harvey admitted the fact that all his medical knowledge was self-taught. With his health on the line, he could no longer hold in his anger as he glared at Harvey in exasperation while harshly lashing out at him.
  • “I thought you were really a good doctor, but it turns out that you’re just a phony! Get lost! I don’t want to see you in my restaurant ever again, or I swear I will beat you to a pulp each time I see you!” Josh lost his temper because he had revealed his sensitive condition at the cost of his pride, thinking he could get rid of the illness. Therefore, he was disappointed to be told that Harvey was a phony. If we weren’t in my restaurant, I’d probably teach him a lesson by now.
  • Victor and Charles gleefully looked at Harvey and gloated. “Piss off! That’s some nerve you’ve got to go around fooling people, you phony! Get lost!”
  • “Everything has come to light now! This guy is a swindler, so don’t fall for his scam! If you’re not feeling well, come to a proper hospital for a checkup. You wouldn’t want to be a victim of scammers like him!”
  • As their loud voices drew everyone’s attention in the restaurant, they all came closer to investigate the commotion. Soon, murmurs of discussions could be heard as they all started angrily criticizing Harvey for his dishonesty.
  • “Just go! Why must you waste your youth on cheating?”
  • “I haven’t seen a phony who could stay so calm like you do. It appears that you’re pretty tough mentally, huh! Perhaps you’re an experienced one.”
  • In response, Harvey only frowned, thinking his business was done since he had already given Josh the prescription. Nevertheless, he was piqued by the two arrogant men for their stubborn belligerence in picking a fight with him.
  • “I told you, but you guys are too ignorant to understand what I said. The art of healing is a pool of knowledge with no depths and boundaries. Thus, I’d be amused to hear you both say that you’ve learned everything about the art.”
  • “Keep telling yourself that!” Victor coldly grunted, calling Harvey a clown deep down for his audacity to talk about the sacred art of healing even though he never studied in a medical school at all. “Shut up, phony! Stop trying to confuse us with your twisted words! Are you trying to say that we don’t understand the art of healing? We’re doctors, and if we can’t understand, who else can? You?!”
  • At that moment, everyone else set their eyes on Harvey, wondering where he had the guts to criticize the doctors. Those two men are doctors, and they just said your prescription won’t work, yet you’re calling them ignorant. That’s one hell of a way to tell them that you’re Mr. Know It All.
  • Just when everyone thought Harvey was going to give in to their unforgiving mockery, he smiled and replied in a deadpan manner, “That’s right! I do know it all.”
