Chapter 3 She Won This Fight

  • Craig has been in control of the Bondion Group since he was seventeen. In five years, he made his company worldwide, and it was worth more than hundreds of billions. Whichever sector he stepped foot in, he was able to dominate it. He was known as a prodigy in doing business, and he was ruthless and aggressive. No one in Zelle City dared go against him. Gloria meant totally nothing to him!
  • His face darkened when he heard her calling him "old." He was only twenty-five! At that moment, he sneered, "You better don’t regret your decision!"
  • "Ms. White, lock her up in the West Courtyard." I must teach her a lesson and make her back off!
  • Amy was shocked as the West Courtyard had been empty for more than ten years; it was remote and scary, and there were two aggressive dogs there. Mrs. Ramirez is slim like a paper doll, and locking her up with the dogs is close to taking her life!
  • Yet Amy knew that no one could disobey Craig. She and the rest of the maids looked at Gloria with sympathy. Everyone thought that she would not be able to survive in the West Courtyard for more than one minute and that she would be begging Craig to release her. but she remained silent.
  • It was not until the evening that the security guards from the West Courtyard rushed to Craig. "Mr. Ramirez, something went wrong!"
  • Craig was in his studies; he was having a video call meeting with his workers; it did not go smoothly, as he seemed stern now. He looked at the security guard, recalling that there was still this ugly woman. He then glanced at his watch and realized one hour had passed; he was pretty amazed by it. He said coldly, "What’s happening? Is she begging now?"
  • The security guard shook his head and answered, "No... Mrs. Ramirez stabbed and killed both Paul and Greyson!"
  • Craig raised his eyebrow, as he was pretty shocked. Both of them were trained as military dogs, and they were both vicious. A muscular man may not be able to fight them. They might be old now, but they should not be able to lose against a weak woman like Gloria. Craig got up from his chair and walked to the West Courtyard.
  • Amy and Mandy Walker exchanged looks. They knew that the dogs were Craig’s favorite playmates; he crushed the both of them ever since he was back with the Ramirez family. How could Ms. Chavez kill them? Mr. Ramirez won’t spare her!
  • Amy hurriedly called Eklesia Church’s hotline once Craig had gone out.
  • At the same time, Gloria was lying on a pool of blood, and the stench of it was surrounding her. She felt like vomiting, but she held tight to her pistol, worrying that more dogs would be coming her way to attack her until she was only left with bones. I can’t die; who will be looking after my dad if I do? Who will help me get everything back from my uncle and auntie?
  • When she was about to lose consciousness due to exhaustion, she could hear footsteps approaching her. A vicious man blocked her view of the dry leaves and dark sky.
  • Craig looked at her; her clothes were torn apart, and her body was full of wounds. Her lips were dried and pale, and it seemed like they were slightly moving, as if she wanted to complain about something. Her eyes seemed dead, yet determined. Her hair was flying all around, and it covered the scar on her left cheek. She looked beautifully miserable under the moonlight. He looked around the dooryard, and it was obvious that she had an ugly fight; either she or the dogs survived. Humans have the natural instinct to fight for survival. An image flashed through his mind; he somehow saw his teenage self on her. He was once locked up in a hellish place, and his only goal was to survive. He had to make it. His suppressed memory was triggered just by looking at her, and he looked at her with complicated feelings.
  • After a while, he still remained silent, and he did not punish her. He only asked the security guards to properly bury his dogs, and he left.
  • Gloria did not know what happened after that because she was unconscious for an entire week after that night. When she regained consciousness, she heard Maria speaking. "Mr. Brown, please look after Gloria for me, and please inform me if she wakes up." Allen Brown quickly agreed with her.
  • "Grandma," she called out weakly.
  • Maria was happy and surprised, and she went to her bedside to hold her hand. "Gloria, finally you’re awake! I've been so worried for the past week!" She wanted to help her up as she spoke. But Gloria avoided her touch subconsciously, and her body was aching from her movements.
  • Maria thought that she was blaming her for not protecting her, and she said with guilt, "Gloria, please forgive me. I was praying in the church when Craig woke up the other day. I didn’t expect him to treat you cruelly like this. I will ask him to take good care of you from now on; please rest assured and stay with us."
  • Gloria was still uneasy, even though Maria tried to reassure her. She thought that staying with the Ramirez family was a form of protection for her, but she only realized that Craig was the most dangerous man alive! She wanted to ask for divorce, but Maria told her that she was Craig’s lucky star. And she was officially her granddaughter-in-law, so she forbade her from talking about divorce. Maria was kind to her, but she was firm about not letting her go.
  • Gloria was completely silent. Craig was ruthless, and she felt that staying with him was playing with fire. She was lucky the other day, as her homemade drug was on her, and she managed to paralyze the dog with it so that she could stab them. But what if he does something even crueler to me next time? How can I protect myself? I can’t let him take my life.
  • She was planning on leaving the Ramirez family at that moment. After Maria left her room, she got up from the bed and asked Amy about Craig’s whereabouts. Amy told her that he was in the studies, and she alertly wanted Gloria not to do anything that could enrage him once again. If not, something might happen to her again.
