Chapter 16 Save Me, I Want It

  • On the other hand, Craig ignored everyone and brought Gloria to the most expensive private room on the second floor. There were ten seats inside, and Felix and his family were sitting in the middle, and the people around them were all influential businessmen in Xana City. And she spotted someone familiar: Hayden, who was Craig’s best friend. She knew that Hayden was someone special, but she only got to know that he was Felix’s grandson, the one who would inherit the Percepta Group. That’s right, Craig’s best friend shouldn’t be someone ordinary.
  • Hayden was wearing a black suit, and he set up his hair. Most of the men would not try this style, as they would all look bad in it. Yet Hayden was rocking it. Craig was invited to sit beside Felix and his family, and it could be seen that he was important. Everyone had actually seen what happened downstairs, but all of them were experienced and mature. They all just glanced at Gloria curiously, and they continued to talk. She sat beside Craig innocently; she did not seem to belong here. Shortly, she realized that Craig was a "pro" at socializing. He could instantly end a conversation no matter how hard people tried to talk to him, and he seemed perfectly fine doing it.
  • All these people had thick faces, but Gloria felt embarrassed looking at them! Most of them chose to be silent, as they were usually pleased and not trying to please. At the end, Felix smiled politely, and he made everyone talk about another topic.
  • Craig did not think it was inappropriate, and he held a glass of red wine and talked to Hayden intermittently as if Hayden was the only worthy one to talk to him. Gloria was amazed by how arrogant he was.
  • Listening to Hayden talk with Craig, she was lost in her thoughts. She recalled the day she was singing in the lounge. Hayden used to listen quietly to her singing, and now she was listening to him speak. He was so near, yet so far. She suddenly felt like drinking. She asked for a glass of cocktail from the waiter, and she was eager to give it a try.
  • Hayden stopped talking and looked at her bandaged leg, and he asked, "Is it true that you’re allergic to anesthesia?"
  • She blushed as the man for whom she cared the most now talked to her. "Yes, I almost lost my life when I was young because of it." She tried to cover up her own lies.
  • "Mr. Brown said that you could withstand the pain of the needle; men might not even endure it." Hayden was complimenting her.
  • She was blushing harder because she felt guilty. She did not know how to answer him, so she just smiled.
  • She did not realize that Craig’s face was getting darker. He clearly saw that she blushed at Hayden, and she spoke gently with Hayden and even smiled shyly at him! She was not friendly toward him at all.
  • Hayden was usually sensible and alert, but he did not realize what was happening. He took the cocktail away from Gloria, and he said, "You can’t drink when your wound is not fully recovered; it might be inflamed." She was taken aback because his finger had touched her hand just now. She felt that her heart was warm and beating fast. She looked at him, and he was looking at her with a smile.
  • He was gentle and caring, just like back then. He was the same as when he was listening to her sing last time. He felt like he was meeting an acquaintance. She wondered if he recognized her now.
  • Craig slammed his glass on top of the table, and he managed to catch her attention. She glanced at him and wondered who had enraged him this time.
  • "Eddy, Mrs. Ramirez is bored here; bring her down to have some food now." He ordered. He managed to offend two people at the moment, but he did not care.
  • Gloria wanted to roll her eyes. Am I a dog? Why do I need someone to bring me food?
  • "I can go by myself; please enjoy yourself!" She stood up and turned around.
  • Two businessmen at the corner realized something was off. "Why do I feel that Mrs. Ramirez is not close with Craig but Hayden?"
  • "Ha, Craig is so stern; no matter how handsome and capable he is, he can never be as understanding as Hayden."
  • "Maybe we should help Mrs. Ramirez out?" The two of them exchanged dirty looks. They disliked Craig a lot, but they could not win against him. They would have tortured him countless times if they could. His wife and best friend having an affair should be a big humiliation to him!
  • But it was not easy to set Craig up, especially after he was drugged last time; he always brought his own wine with him now. Hence, the two of them were targeting Gloria now.
  • Gloria was in an unfamiliar environment, and she was alert. But she was pretty hungry, and she knew that she had to feed her baby too.
  • She took a plate of cake and a cup of fruit juice. She became dizzy once she drank the entire glass of fruit juice. She soon realized something was wrong. Oh no, I’m drugged! The waiter that bumped into me drugged me!
  • She forced herself to remain awake, and she was about to fumble with her phone to call Craig. She saw a waiter coming her way and helped her; he said respectfully, "Mrs. Ramirez, are you feeling unwell? Mr. Ramirez sent me to help you up."
  • She did not believe anyone at the moment, and she wanted to push him away, yet she felt that he injected her on her wrist. She lost all her strength, and the man dragged her away. She was pushed into a guest room, and it was locked from the outside. She was terrified at the similar situation; Bonnie once did this to her, and she felt that it was even worse now.
  • She had lost all her strength, and she felt hot now. She did not have the ability to fight back and escape. Her heart almost stopped thinking of what she experienced that night. She laid on the icy floor and hugged herself; her body was itchy until she wanted to bang onto the wall. She was tortured by such strange feelings.
  • Suddenly, the door opened. She saw hope, and she crawled toward the man and held onto his thigh. "Please, save me; I want..."
