Chapter 7
- Isla
- I gritted my teeth as I walked outside, holding onto the shred of dignity I had left. My body was sore and although I wanted to curse at him and call him all sorts of names, my body was too weak for that, I just wanted to wash his hands and scent off my body.
- I stepped out to find Myla outside, arguing with one guard. She ran to me immediately, her eyes filled with fear.
- “Isla… Are you okay? What did that beast do to you…”
- “Nothing… I… I just want to go home.” I replied and she nodded, helping me towards the car although she didn’t believe my words.
- A deafening silence took over as she drove home and I bit my lips, trying to stop words from coming out of my mouth.
- She helped me back to my room when we arrived at the house and after freshening up, I collapsed to the bed, letting sleep take me instantly.
- ***************************
- I opened my eyes slowly, feeling slightly better than before and I began to think about things properly.
- The door opened and Myla walked in, looking at me with concern and I faked a smile. “How are you doing?”
- “I’m fine, thank you so much.” I replied and she took a seat beside me.
- “What did that bastard do to you? Did he force himself on you? I’m going to kill him…” She growled and I smiled softly.
- “It’s fine…”
- “It’s not! He touched you, Isla and I’m going to make sure he pays for that!” She retorted as she rose to her feet and I grabbed her hand.
- “It’s alright… He wasn’t himself… It felt like he was under the influence of something last night and he apologized…” Her jaws dropped as she turned to me.
- “He… He apologized? Alpha Kaius?” She demanded and I nodded.
- “Yes, he offered me a contract but I declined, I asked for marriage which he declined, it’s pointless.” I replied with resignation and she stood beside me, shaking her head.
- “It’s not… I know this isn’t what you planned…” A tear rolled down my cheek as I bit my lips, trying not to break down but it was really hard, I had been bottling everything from far too long.
- First it was a failed marriage and wasted years, now it’s the most priceless thing being taken away from me just because of one foolish decision I had made years ago.
- “Everything will be fine…” She whispered, patting my back softly and I nodded, sniffing as I tried to stop the tears.
- “Why does it feel like the universe is against me? Why didn’t I just take over the pack before rather than stupidly falling in love?” I whispered and she continued patting my back.
- “Everything will be fine… You still have one week, things can’t get any worse, you’re going to get another man in a week.” She muttered and a knock came in on the door.
- “Miss… Sir Artemis just arrived at the house with the elders.” A maid announced and my eyes widened with astonishment as I bolted to my feet.
- “Myla… Artemis… He… He’s arrived at the pack.” I muttered, pacing around with worry and she grabbed my hand.
- “Just see them, assure them that everything is fine… Don’t back down or show any signs of weakness.” She advanced and I nodded.
- I inhaled and exhaled a few times, trying to gather my strength.
- “Fine… I’m going.” I left the room with my heart pounding heavily.
- My palms began to sweat and I paused as I stared at Artemis for a minute before I continued walking.
- He had a cruel smirk on his face and he watched me closely with dark, lustful eyes as I forced a smile to my face.
- “Elder Mathias…”
- “Long time no see, cousin. Did you run away from your husband? Why?” Artemis cut in and I turned to him.
- “It’s nice to see you too.” I replied and he scoffed.
- “I’m here to take my pack, I know you think the pack is still going to be yours after betraying us for that thing you call a man but sorry to burst your bubbles honey, things have changed.” He replied and I raised a brow.
- “Not so fast, I was told I have a week to find a husband.”
- “Well I’m here now and you don’t have a husband and I want to take the throne that belongs to me. Even if you return to that cocky bastard, he’s not going to be a match against me, he’s nothing but a weakling who hides behind you.” He replied and I smiled.
- “I’ve got more than enough power to defeat you, Artemis. The pack belongs to me by right and you have no business ruling!” I retorted and he burst into laughter.
- “Women have no business ruling, you people are nothing but puppets sent for our pleasure, you belong in the kitchen.” He retorted and I felt puking.
- “Get out!”
- “I’m going to be crowned as alpha tomorrow… And there’s no stopping me.” He replied with a smirk and I turned to elder Mathias with a frown and he exhaled deeply before bowing his head.
- “No! You can’t! You gave me one week!” I thundered and he chuckled.
- “You can start packing your luggage because I won’t let you stay in my pack house…”
- “I can’t get married in five days!”
- “I’m sorry but Artemis arrived early and we can’t stop him…”
- “Since you’re desperate for power, how about you become my fifth wife and Luna, that way we get to rule our pack together? What do you think, dear sister?” He demanded, his eyes filled with lust and I gagged, staring at him with disdain.
- “I’m getting married soon, you can’t take the pack away from me.”
- “Getting married to who? Which man would be willing to be with a loose woman like you?” He taunted as he burst into laughter.
- “Me, do you have a problem with that?” I heard a deep voice at the entrance and we both turned around.
