Chapter 2
- Isla
- Waking up the next day, I freshened up and went downstairs for breakfast.
- I rolled my eyes when I found Amelia seated, eating and she did the same as I took my seat.
- “Did Liam come home yesterday?” I asked a maid who shook her head.
- “How shameless of you, expecting a newly wedded man to come here… Why? Were you planning on disrupting their night?” Amelia demanded and I scoffed.
- “What’s wrong? Can’t you talk?” She demanded and I glared at her.
- “What do you want? Haven’t you done enough already?” I inquired and I turned to the maid. “My bags are in the room, put them in the car.” I ordered and she paused.
- “Luna… The list for all the food that’s needed in the house…”
- “Hand it over to Ruby or let Amelia do it herself.” I replied and her eyes widened in shock.
- “What are you doing? Are you leaving? You have no right to leave until Liam says so, do you think anyone is going to be with a barren woman?” She demanded and I burst into laughter.
- “Barren?”
- “Yes, Ruby is pregnant, she needs your help for the next few months.” She replied and I clenched my fists as I placed them on my lap, trying to control my anger.
- “Oh really? You love her so you should help her.” I replied as I picked up my handbag and walked out.
- “Isla! Don’t you dare walk out of the door! If you do, we’re never going to accept you…” She yelled while I scoffed.
- I entered my car and drove to the pack office, ready to drop my our divorce papers which I was to receive from the lawyer outside.
- “Good morning Luna… Ar… Are you sure about this?” The lawyer asked, staring at me with pity and I smiled, nodding softly.
- “I wish you happiness in this new path, Luna.” He whispered and I nodded as I grabbed the file, heading into the office while some people whispered about me.
- “Does she know the alpha is married to another woman?”
- “Why is she here? Doesn’t she have an iota of shame? She’s barren and she still has the guts to come here after the alpha gets married.”
- “If I was the alpha, I’d send her back to her pack, all she does is stay around and give orders like she owns the place, I’m glad the alpha isn’t with her anymore…” I paused and turned to them.
- “Shut it or else I’ll be forced to do it, Liam might be married to another lady and divorced to me but I still hold the upper hand in this company and I won’t take shit from you, or anyone, okay?” I replied and they stared at me with shock.
- I scoffed as I turned around and walked away. I pushed Liam’s door and Ruby was seated on his lap, they didn’t do anything as I walked in, just stared at me like I was some random secretary.
- “Isla… I know why you’re here and…”
- “Good, then sign the papers and don’t waste my time.” I replied as I placed the divorced papers on the table and his eyes widened with shock.
- “No… I won’t sign this, you know you’re still my Luna, I love you babe, you’re still going to be on charge… There’s no need to be jealous of Ruby, she’s not interested in taking your position or competion… We can all live as one happy family.” He whispered as he rose to his feet while Ruby nodded, flashing me a smile.
- “Isla, I know you hate me but I like you, I want us to be sisters and together we were going to serve Liam and take the pack forward, two heads are better than one.”
- “Thank you so much but I’m leaving today, I’ve packed my things, please sign this and let’s part ways.” I replied and a knock came.
- It was the representative from my pack and I smiled softly as he bowed his head.
- “Good morning alpha, we’re here to take back the expired loan and if you don’t have the money yet, we’re willing to go take the collaterals.” He replied and a smirk appeared on my face as Liam turned to me with horror.
- “No… You cannot do this… Isla! We’re married… How could you do this to me?”
- “If you can betray our love then taking back what’s mine is nothing! Make sure you take everything, sign the papers.” I replied as I turned around and walked out.
- I was at the stairs when Ruby caught up with me. “Isla… Wait.”
- “What do you want?”
- “To rub salt in your wounds, I remember those days you used to carry yourself around with pride, look down on others and call yourself Liam’s soulmate but look at you now… You’re nothing but a barren old woman whom no one would want to ever be with…” She taunted and I clenched my jaws, forcing my wolf down.
- Dove was ready to claw her tongue out and give her marks all over her but that was for another day.
- “You have Liam now, let me be.” I replied as I turned around.
- “Not so fast.” She replied as she gave me a kick on the back and I let out a cry of help as I began tumbling down the stairs.
- “Argh… argh.” I screamed as I landed in my stomach, feeling a sharp pain inside of me.
- There were bruises on my arms and looking down, I noticed spotting on my white pants.
- “Help! Somebody!” I screamed as I began crawling towards the reception and I heard a loud yell from above the stairs.
- As some guards rushed me out, I was in shock to see Ruby being rushed out too as she held her tummy firmly.
- “Oh… My child… My baby… I’m so sorry mummy didn’t protect you…” She whispered, panting heavily like she was in pain.
- I groaned as I was rushed to the hospital in my car. I was put on a stretcher and taken to the ward.
- “Please… Please save my child… My baby… Please save him.” I whispered as I held the doctor firmly before letting go of his hand slowly as I gave in to the welcoming darkness.
