Chapter 3

• Isla
• I opened my eyes weakly, the white ceiling spinning for a moment as the room reeked of drugs and gloom.
• I shut my eyes and opened them slowly, trying to process my environment when my hands flew to my tummy.
• I touched my tummy softly, trying to feel my baby: I had this feeling of emptiness, I frowned as I sat up immediately.
• “Where’s my baby? Where is my child!” I screamed at the top of my voice and as I began throwing a fit as the doctor rushed in.
• “Luna… Please calm down… Please…”
• “Where’s my child! What happened to my child… Where is she? Where!” I screamed and she patted my shoulders.
• “I’m sorry Luna… Please accept my condolences…” She pleaded and I broke into tears, sobbing quietly.
• My child… I have always wanted a child, a big family and my baby was killed by that bitch, Ruby!
• “Let go of me!” I ordered as I pulled off the drip and the doctor refused, trying to hold me back but I pushed her away in my rage as I headed to Ruby’s room.
• “You bitch! You killed my child! You murderer!” I yelled as I walked into the room, ready to unleash Dove on her but Liam held me back while Amelia stood by her side protectively.
• “Stop! Ruby just lost her child. You were never pregnant, Isla, stop pretending.” Liam retorted and I burst into laughter, my eyes filled with tears as I stared at them.
• “You’re not going to get away with this… I’m going to take everything away from you and make you regret this… all of you!” I thundered and he cupped my cheeks.
• “Now that you’ve gotten back at Ruby, let’s call it even and go back home… let’s live in harmony…” He pleaded and I snarled.
• “Not in your wildest dreams! I want the divorce papers signed and I want everything that belongs to me!” I replied as I walked out while Liam followed me, trying to plead with me.
• “Isla… Think about what we shared… We built this pack together… Think about all the years we spent together and our love… You’re the only one fit to be my Luna…” He pleaded and I scoffed as I changed into the fresh clothes provided by the hospital.
• “I don’t want you or that love anymore! Sign the papers!” I snapped as I walked out of the hospital, shutting the door as I ignited the engine, letting tears flow down my cheeks as I drove out of the pack house.
• Arriving home, I couldn’t help but notice how everything had changed. It made me even sadder to think I had left a great place like this for that heap of lies.
• “Dad, mom… I’m really sorry for disappointing you, I promise to recover everything that was lost… I’ll be a good daughter now and this time around, I’m going to make the pack proud.” I whispered under my breath.
• Driving into the pack house, I had a huge smile on my face as my best friend Myla rushed outside to hug me.
• “I’ve missed you so much! Girl! Finally.” She whispered as she jumped on me and I couldn’t help but cry.
• Five years ago I had abandoned her, snapped at her to let me be after she opposed my union with Liam.
• “I’m really sorry… Myla…”
• “Shh, you’re back and that’s all that matters to me. You’ll forever be my best friend and that bastard is going to die in my hands for all he did to you. Take a look at yourself, you used to be chubby but now you look weak and tired…” She whispered as she pulled me into the house.
• I paused when I saw the three elders and the beta standing in the sitting room, waiting for me.
• I bowed my head in shame. “Where do you think you’re going to?” Beta Mathias demanded and I bit my lips.
• “Do you think you have the right to return after you left the pack, taking away a great amount of money, leaving the pack broke?” An elder demanded and I shook my head slowly.
• “We know it was the alpha’s dream to let you rule and be free, to make you a different woman from what the society expects from everyone but I’m sorry we cannot accept you back. You cannot rule over the people you do not value.” They all announced and my jaws dropped.
• “Please… I’m ready to give my all for this pack… I’m ready to do everything it takes to make up for the past years… Please.” I pleaded and Myla held my hand, squeezing it softly in support.
• “No, there’s no telling who you’re going to be traipsing off with next time so it’s best we keep the throne for your cousin, he’s going to return to the pack next week, with his family. He has been training for the past five years and when he takes over, the pack will be stable and we can finally get some rest.” An elder mumbled and I shook my head.
• There’s no way I’m going to let Artemis take over, that serpent would make my life a living hell and torture the people of the pack.
• He was a pedophile and freak, he had one tried to touch me and after reporting to father, he had been severely punished, goddess knew he’d take revenge on me now,
• “I’m willing to do everything it takes just to be the alpha of this pack.”
• “Then get an alpha, one who wouldn’t leave you or make you leave your pack and one who is strong enough to go against Artemis.” The beta announced and my shoulders slumped.
• “There’s one alpha in question… Alpha Kaius, he is limited to a wheelchair now but he’s single, if you can get him to marry you before Artemis returns, then the pack is yours.” They announced and my jaw dropped.
• “Alpha Kaius… That beast? Isn’t he the one who single-handedly took down a pack? Isn’t it rumored that he’s gay and he hates women?” I asked and they nodded.
• How was I going to ask a gay alpha to get married to me and convince him in one week? A man who would give an audience to nobody but beta…
• “Alright, I’m going to get married to Alpha Kaius in one week.” I announced with determination even though Dove was screaming at me that it was impossible.
