Chapter 5

  • Again, Lexie sat timidly in the left corner of the car, her captor seated in the opposite corner. His eyes were fixated on her, a look of amusement dwelling in their depths. "Come here, Lexie." He demanded, voice deep and calm.
  • Pretending not to hear, Lexie abruptly looked away, her eyes traveling to the tinted glass, barring her off from the blurred world of the outside. She missed her freedom and her drawings, she missed her mom, her dad, her best friend and her despicable brothers...
  • She missed her old life.
  • It had been almost a day and a half now since she had been kidnapped and the days of her captivation were her worst.
  • She hated feeling caged, but sadly, in that prison her captor called a house was where they were heading.
  • If she could, she'd refuse to go, but matters concerning her own damn life, she had no say in.
  • She was now bound to his words like a criminal to a cuff and that fact truly slapped her pride.
  • No matter how much she questioned it, the answers, she can't find.
  • What did she do so wrong in her life to deserve this?
  • Why her?
  • Did her family, her one and only friend know about this?
  • If not, is she considered missing?
  • Those questions and many others starting with a what or a why were all that filled her head and even though the answers were beyond her, she'd make sure to escape this despair, so that those questions never infiltrate her mind again.
  • Criminals with sense, agility and an overweighting pride like hers have been known to escape the cuffs that binds them and Lexie would make sure to be just like them.
  • With determination in her thoughts and dense lugubriousness under her heart, she sat in that car until it was once again parked in front the dull, white prison she was previously locked in.
  • Her captor opened his door and cautiously stepped out before turning back to offer Lexie a hand.
  • Lexie turned away from it with a frown, her pride wasn't fully executed as yet and he'd have to die and go to hell first before she'd willingly take his hand.
  • Reaching for the handle, she opened her door and she too stepped out. Her eyes scanned her surroundings, looking for a loophole in the mansion. The windows were made of glass, but like a prison cell, they were barred off with stylish layers of steel.
  • The doors weren't openable from the inside unless she had the keys.
  • She could steal them, but even if she did, she wouldn't know which key would be able to penetrate the knob, there were too many to chose from.
  • A breath of frustration left her lips as she looked away from the mansion and to the only house situated beside it.
  • It was fairly big and painted in the same dull white as the mansion. It was barred off by fences and the windows were open which only meant somebody lived there. If she could just get to that pers-
  • Lexie's thoughts were cut short when a hand roughly grabbed hers. With force, she was pulled away from the car and to the brown door situated on forefront of the house.
  • Her captor turned to her, eyes dark and angry. "How many times must I call you to received an answer?"
  • Lexie's lips slipped ajar, fear of what to come slowly coursing through her veins. "I-I...I didn't h-hear. I...you...I'm sorry."
  • Zheme glared at her for a moment longer before turning away and opening the door. He pulled her inside, grip tight around her wrist. "This should never happen again. If I call your name, I expect an answer and if I tell you to come, you should."
  • Despite her pride telling her not to, Lexie shakily nodded.
  • "With words," Zheme demanded. "I want you to answer with your words."
  • "I-it won't happen again, I'm s-sorry."
  • As if the anger that had been evident on his face didn't exist, he smiled happily, loosening his grip. "Nice to see you're finally complying." He hummed. "But now, I won't be able to keep you company, I have work tomorrow and therefore preparations must be made."
  • Lexie hesitantly nodded at his words, listening carefully when he decided to continue. "Upstairs, last door on the left is my office, it is strictly off limits, which means, I don't want you anywhere near it. Need something in the house I give you authority to take it."
  • That being said, he walked away leaving Lexie with just one thought...
  • Anything? Does that include the keys too?
