Chapter 7

  • After he made sure his associates were comfortable and on their way to the hotel where he'd reserved suites for them, Scott got into his car and drove away, in the opposite direction.
  • What were the odds? He wondered. What were the odds that he would see her again. In his own restaurant at that! Not to mention she has once again, completely ruined his plans for the night. Granted, he had not really been enjoying the dinner. Between Tatiana's advances and the other men literally falling off their seats to be on his good side, he was tired and was relieved when dinner came to an abrupt end. Guess he had her to thank for that. But, on the other night, he had to choose between ensuring her safety and going after someone he had been chasing a long time. Scott had been annoyed at letting Fletcher go. What annoyed him most, however, was his sweet damsel in distress.
  • His breath tugged as he recalled his first sight of her. Breathtaking! That was the perfect word to describe how he had felt, seeing her, standing there, dressed in white, her hair loose around her shoulders. Her fetching smile, the way she tucked her hair behind her ears, the way she fingered the glass, the flick of her wrist. Everything little action she took had captivated him. That was until, he saw her talking to Finn. And all of a sudden, his attraction had morphed to something else. Need. A need to protect her. And that's what he did. That night, when he turned to face her, he had to admit another need, her. He'd wanted her. Seeing her in the bar had been compelling, but standing right before her had been something else entirely. It had taken a lot of his self control to not pull her to himself. He called a cab, and then like, a classical coward, fled. He'd hoped to never have to see her again. That way, he wouldn't have to analyse how she made him feel and what she made him feel. Now all that was for naught, because he has seen her again, right within reach. And he didn't know where that was going to leave him.
  • He continued to drive, taking turns mechanically, until he saw her. Like he knew he would.

  • Willow dejectedly left the restaurant on the verge of tears, as it hit her, that she just lost her job. The timing couldn't have been worse as she hadn't even gotten her pay for the month. Miss Pearl said it would be to cover up the loss and damage she caused.
  • As she walked, tears threatened to blind her, but she refused to be swallowed in despair. She decided to cheer herself up with good thoughts and of course, her mind automatically went to him. She'd seen him again, and immediately, she'd gotten that feeling. The feeling that makes the environment fade and breathing becomes a chore. She shouldn't like it, but she did. It felt like everything will be alright if only she be with him. But this was all happening because he protected her the other night. Why else would she feel this way? In fact, It was unfair how her thoughts were plagued with brown eyes pinning her with intensity, holding her gaze. The other night he left her like he couldn't wait to be rid of her. He didn't speak a word to her or even allow her thank him properly. She had not thought she would see him so soon again!
  • The street already lightened were illuminated by the headlights of an approaching vehicle. Willow expected it to pass on like the others but it didn't. It veered and skidded to a stop right in front of her, blocking her path. Who the…? Scott!
  • Scott came out of the vehicle and shut the door with a bang.
  • "Either you are really daring or plain dumb!" He was seething.
  • Willow looked at him. He was clearly enraged. She knew her behaviour at the restaurant was unspeakable and his dinner with his people had been ruined and that he'd be angry. But she did not think it would be in this degree. Much less that he would accost her in the streets.
  • ''Um..I..I'm really sorry sir, for ruining your dinner..I.."
  • "You think I'm angry about?!"
  • What else would he be angry about? Willow thought then says, "About the other night I thought.."
  • "Oh you remember the other night?" He said with a forced calmness. Willow was now truly confused.
  • "Of course I remember Sir! I would never forget it! I didn't..I thought not to bring it up where you were having dinner with…"
  • "Did you not learn anything from that night?" He asked but Willow kept quiet. She didn't understand his line of questioning and did not know what to answer.
  • "You were nearly attacked not so many nights ago, yet here you are walking alone, and in the dark no less." Simon Scott sounded truly annoyed.
  • "That's what you're angry about?" Willow was perplexed.
  • "Oh forgive me for my outburst. But you see, I gave up something important that night I chose to save you, even though it seem you don't appreciate it so much."
  • Willow was now at her wit's end. "Well I'm sorry, Mr porch and fancy but I didn't ask for your help that night. I appreciate what you did. Thank you so much! I'll be out of your way now." Willow made to move but he halted her.
  • "Get in the car." He said.
  • "What? I'm not getting into a car with you." Willow moved but he wouldn't relent.
  • "Get in the car." He said again. "I said no." Willow says to him.
  • "I don't have time for this!" Scott snapped, taking a hold of her arm and pulling her towards the car.
  • "Let me go right now or I'll scream."
  • "Go ahead. If anyone shows up, I'll tell them you're a cheating girlfriend." Willow's mouth hung open at his statement. Scott used her momentary shock as an opportunity to get her into the car. He got in as well and fastened the seat belt. Willow by this time has gotten out of her shock and started banging on the tinted window pane. "Help!" She shouted.
