Chapter 2 A New Vigor 1

  • “You are right, Prof.”
  • Now, the Vice Chancellor faced the Chief of the Security, who had been listening quietly and instructed.
  • “Send them on their way. You don’t need any ceremony for that. They can come and give us their details for a refund of their fees.”
  • “It is all right, Prof.”
  • Mr. Morgan acknowledged and left at once. He walked back to the vestibule and drove off with a sense of accomplishment.
  • “These students don’t know that we also have children like them at home.”
  • He mumbled to himself. When he got to his office, he discovered that the students were throwing tantrums and threatening to report the school to the authority for molestation of the girls and unlawful detention. The bewildered Chief of the Security who was already seeing them as former students ordered.
  • “Take them to the Vice Chancellor’s Office for their details.”
  • Now, the provoked students, who believed that it was their threats that brought about what they thought to be to drop their details for an apology letter, were contented with themselves. Meanwhile, Mr. Morgan allowed them to think whatever they wished to think.
  • Subsequently, they got into the shuttle bus of the Security Department and the driver took them to the Administrative Block while the Chief of The Security drove behind them.
  • At the Vice Chancellor’s Office
  • However, Jeff and Leon, who were in their penultimate year, had arrived to the school with a new vigor after excelling their sophomore year. They were happy to see their friends, especially Sidney and their lecturers. The holiday had been eventful to them because Jeff’s grandfather, Mr. Jeffrey Morris, had found the love of his life. Now, he drove his bucket of bolts to the Administrative Block to pay a visit to the Vice Chancellor. Furthermore, he parked at the car park and his security and aids parked beside him.
  • “We will be back, Mr. Levi.”
  • He announced when they got off the car.
  • “We are waiting, Young Master.”
  • They picked a bag that contained the goodies which they had brought to the Vice Chancellor from the car trunk and left for his office. At the walkway, they exchanged greetings with some of their colleagues and other members of staff before they got to their destination.
  • As expected, the visitors to the Vice Chancellor’s office were many, and they had to wait for their turns. His Secretary, Mr. Thomas Lee, who loved them for their humility, was pleased to see them. And they greeted him cheerfully.
  • “Good morning, Mr. Lee. We are thrilled to see.”
  • “Good to see you. How was your holiday?”
  • “Our holiday was great. And yours?”
  • “It was great too. The Vice Chancellor is expecting you. You will see him when the visitor in his office leaves.”
  • “It is noted, Mr. Lee.”
  • Now, Jeff and Leon smiled. They were aware of the Secretary’s game. He wanted to let them in before the other visitors to avoid keeping them waiting. So, they joyously took their seats and began to wait. After a few minutes, the visitor walked out.
  • “It is your turn.”
  • The Secretary announced as he fixed his gaze on them.
  • “Thank you, Mr. Lee.”
  • They appreciated and picked up their goodie bag. They stood up at once and walked into the Vice Chancellor’s Office. Now, the delighted VC, who could not hide his joy, smiled happily when he saw them.
  • “Oh! Here come the Penultimate Students.”
  • They smiled broadly too and greeted him one after the other.
  • “Good morning, Prof. Thompson.”
  • “Good morning to you. Kindly take your seats.
  • “Thank you, Prof.”
  • They appreciated before they took their seats while Prof. Thompson continued.”
  • “You are welcome. I am so delighted to see my two young friends. I hope you had a nice holiday.”
  • “Yes, Prof. Thompson.”
  • “That is good. How are your parents? I hope they are good, like you?”
  • “They are good, Prof. We brought this for you.”
  • Jeff declared as he handed over the bag of goodies to him. He joyously collected the bag and opened it at once to see the content. He was startled to see an expensive wine, which he was seeing for the second time in his life. The first and the last time he took such wine was when Jeff celebrated his victory over Shirley when the ex-Vice Chancellor shamelessly made her the best student instead of him. Now, he was presenting him with another bottle of expensive wine.
  • “All for me!”
  • He exclaimed, while Jeff and Leon gave him an acknowledgement smile. Afterwards, he brought out another item which made him to suspect that the two students before him had been hiding their identities from him, and he gave them a suspicious look. Furthermore, he brought out a bottle of fresh yogurt which was only served to the aged at the Shelter Home of the Aged owned by the Cherry Field Oil and Gas Group. Likewise, he was privileged to be invited in his portfolio as the Vice Chancellor of the Eagles City University on the day the Shelter Home was commissioned.
  • “I can’t believe that all these are for me.”
  • He mumbled. Then, Leon spoke to break the silence.
  • “Prof. Thompson. You deserve more than this.”
  • As he was trying to appreciate them, Mr. Morgan unceremoniously pushed the door open and ushered in the five unruly students. Then, Jeff and Leon stood up from the visitors’ seat to take their leave after all, they were through with the Vice Chancellor.
  • “We will be on our way, Prof. Thompson”
  • They announced.
  • “Hold on. I am not through with you. You can sit on the couch and wait for me.”
  • “It is okay, Prof.”
  • Now, they greeted Mr. Vincent Morgan, who did not respond to their greetings and sat on the couch while they seized the opportunity to work with their phones. Likewise, Leon began to chat with his siblings, Ryan ad Harris, While Jeff saw it as an opportunity to go through his mails. Then, one of the rebellious students, Wilson Marvin, spoke without any iota of remorse.
