- I awoke in the middle of the night to find Lucien's side of the bed empty. Rubbing my eyes, I looked around, wondering where he'd gone. Before we'd gone to bed, he'd seemed bothered about something. I wasn't sure if he was concerned about the animosity between Enzo and Gael or the invitation he'd received from the council. Either way, I didn't want him to face it alone.
