• I stopped directly in front of the receptionist's desk, forcing the usual smile to my face as Ardyn tried to stretch on the tip of his toes so he could see over the table. Ardyn wasn't that short, for his age at least, so it was safe to say that the table was just that high.
• “Hi,” I said, resting on the table as I waited for her to look at me. It took a while, but then she finally looked away from the computer, glancing at Ardyn who was still trying to look over the table before her eyes finally settled on me. She mirrored my smile, giving me her full attention. “Is Doctor Michelle in?”
