Chapter 3 Return Obediently

  • “Come home with me. You can’t abort this child.” It had only been half an hour since Ke Beichen discovered that Hupo was pregnant. During this time, he realized he was actually pleased by the news and enjoyed the idea of becoming a father.
  • But, the premise was, Hupo had to give birth to this child.
  • Otherwise, he couldn’t become a father.
  • Hupo did not make a sound. She knew she could never beat Ke Beichen.
  • If Ke Beichen was persistent about something, no one could stop him.
  • Not even her.
  • In the end, Ke Beichen did not return to the office. Instead, he personally prepared lunch.
  • After Hupo stepped out of her bedroom, she leaned slightly against the wall and peered into the kitchen at the male figure that appeared through the glass doors. Even the sight of his back was enough to make her heart race.
  • But, she didn’t want her heart to race like that.
  • So, she twisted her body a little and fell down the stairs.
  • Blood trickled down the edge of her pants.
  • “Lan Hupo, f*ck, do you have a death wish?” Ke Beichen rushed out when he heard the noise. Once again, he found himself speeding his car past 150km/h.
  • Hupo assumed she would definitely lose the child after this incident, but to her surprise, the little thing miraculously survived after a short struggle.
  • As her hand fell on her stomach, she finally realized how bad her heart ached and how ruthless she had been.
  • “Mr. Ke, the child was lucky this time, but there is no guarantee for the next time. A pregnant woman should be mindful of her body and not undertake any strenuous activities.”
  • “Thank you, I understand.” After Ke Beichen saw the doctor off, he stormed over to Lan Hupo’s hospital bed and hooked his hand under her chin, “Lan Hupo, what exactly do you want?”
  • “Marriage or breakup: choose one,” Hupo said as she stared at Ke Beichen with her hand still on the top of her stomach, waiting for an answer.
  • If he chose marriage, then she would keep the child.
  • If he chose to break up, then she would abort it.
  • She was already an illegitimate daughter; she did not want her child to be an illegitimate son as well.
  • “Lan Hupo, what if I don’t choose either?” Ke Beichen asked as he grabbed her wrist.
  • Hupo gave a cold laugh. In the end, he still wanted to marry Meng Qinqin. “Let me make the decision for you,” she said.
  • As soon as she freed herself from Ke Beichen, Hupo stepped off her bed and got ready to leave.
  • “If you dare leave this hospital room, Lan Hupo, I will make you regret it.”
  • Hupo did not turn around as she walked out of the room like she didn’t hear a thing.
  • Even if her abortion didn’t go ahead and falling down the stairs didn’t work, she could still use medicine and continuously jump around.
  • But, she was truly tired today.
  • Since Ke Beichen didn’t chase after her, Hupo booked a room at the hotel and fell asleep.
  • All of a sudden, the sound of her phone’s ringtone woke her up.
  • “Lan Hupo, was it you?”
  • Hupo froze, “Auntie Lan, what’s wrong?”
  • “What’s wrong? Your father’s company stocks are falling. I asked around. It was Ke Beichen. He’s clearing his stocks by selling them in large quantities.”
  • “Hupo, even though you’re an illegitimate child, I never treated you badly all these years. I gave you food to eat and a place to stay. I already lived up to my conscience.”
  • “Go ask around. Which woman is willing to watch the daughter of a mistress parade around in front of them every single day while feeding her and treating her well?”
  • Hupo gently hung up the phone. She never knew that Ke Beichen had bought the Lan Family’s shares. Over the years, even though Auntie Lan hadn’t been particularly good to her, she wasn’t particularly bad to her either.
  • Lan Hupo hated mistresses more than anyone, but she couldn’t choose her own identity.
  • Since she had no say in her own life, she was definitely taking control of her child’s. So, she called a number that she was extremely familiar with, Ke Beichen’s, “Why?”
  • “Come home. Otherwise, the Lan Family’s stocks will continue to drop until you return,” Ke Beichen’s voice was cold without any trace of warmth as it traveled through the phone.
  • He was going to make Lan Hupo obediently return in the same way that she left.
