Chapter 2

  • —Serena...
  • Hearing her father's voice, Serena rises from her bed abruptly. She looks around and realizes she was in her new room.
  • —How did I get here?
  • —One of the neighbors told me he saw you leaving the house. —Serena's father sighs uneasily, "Daughter, I know you feel like you're drowning in this house, but don't go out at night, let alone in the woods, it's dangerous. It was lucky the neighbor found you.
  • —Neighbor?
  • Still confused she sits on her place while trying to remember what happened, but she only remembers a pair of red eyes looking at her as if she was the prey, after that, she remembers nothing, no matter how hard she tries she remembers nothing.
  • Serena's father observes the time, looks at his daughter and tells her that he must return to finish a pending work, distressed she tries to tell him not to leave her alone, but she retracts when she realizes that her father looks stressed.
  • As her father leaves, she begins to cry again because she is sure she will be made fun of in high school, "I hate this damn place" her tears stop when she hears someone ringing the doorbell incessantly, she gets out of the shower and makes sure before going downstairs that the stench of putrefaction is no longer permeating her skin, "my dignity on the floor next to the garbage they threw at me."
  • She wasn't in a good mood to attend to anyone but hearing the insistence of the doorbell makes her desperate to the point of pissing her off even more
  • —I'm coming!
  • Pushing open the door she opens her mouth to run to whoever was bothering her, but she stands still feeling like her whole body turned into an ice floe when she notices a pale boy standing in front of her, so handsome he looked like a magazine model, "He's a Greek god".
  • —Hello, —a woman catches her attention a woman so sensual she felt so tiny in front of such beauty, —We are your neighbors.
  • "You're both beautiful."
  • —Oh, sorry, I thought there was someone else ....
  • Serena tries to articulate a few words, but her voice, doesn't flow as she tries to speak, her eyes stay fixed on the boy who seems to be perfect, "He's a sweetheart."
  • —Don't go drooling on the floor. — "What did he just say? It's enserió that he said that."
  • —Dalton! —said her mother in annoyance.
  • Her words embarrassed her too much, it was such a hard blow to her that it ignited my anger all at once and I exploded "why did he have to be as stupid as Oliver, of course, he's just like him, what else could I expect from someone who looks like the wet dream of any silly girl like me".
  • "But he's still as he wants to be!"
  • —Don't worry ma'am, it's not your fault he has an idiot son.
  • His face uncrosses because he didn't expect that answer from her, Dalton didn't like the girl's attitude.
  • —Ok!!!.. —the lady notices the tension between her son and Serena —Well... I think this is awkward... I just wanted to introduce ourselves, we are the Baltimore family, I'm Isabel and this is my son Dalton.
  • —A pleasure ma'am, —Serena notices that Dalton is staring at her, but it makes her uneasy because it was strange for her that he was looking at her as if she was food —We also moved in yesterday by the way, my name is Serena
  • —Ah, that's nice, it means we're not the only ones new to the place.
  • —Listen, sorry, I don't mean to be rude but... I was just about to do my homework and...
  • —Oh, sure," he smiles, "I'll see you later. If you want, you can come whenever you want to our home.
  • —I'll keep that in mind," he smiles forcibly. —Is something wrong with you? —He said indifferent to Dalton's cold look.
  • —Have a nice evening.
  • Suddenly his expression changed drastically, completely throwing Serena off, she looks at the time and realizes that it's only 9 pm.
  • She follows them with her eyes, he is the last one to enter, but before closing the door, she saw him turn around, look her in the eyes as she sees how someone else takes her place, her eyes were stained the color of blood, a shiver ran through her body at whatever she saw, it's as if it had been a kind of warning that made her slam the door closed
  • His heart rate is too fast, he could feel it so much, it felt like it was climbing up his throat trying to get out of his body to hide from that pair of red eyes.
  • —What the hell?
  • Panicking, Serena watches as the door handle moves in panic thinking it was the owner of those glowing red eyes, but when she sees her father enter she felt a great relief.
  • —What are you doing with that broom Monica? —Serena realizes that she had a broom in her hands, she doesn't even remember when she had taken it.
  • —I... was going to clean.
  • —Honey," laughs her father, "were you going to use it at this time of night? The yard is clean, daughter.
  • "Shit, because I always mess up and even more when I lie to daddy."
  • —I was afraid, ok. —She said frustrated. —This place... it's really weird and scary.
  • Serena's father gives her a tender look and hugs her effusively choking her.
  • —You can relax now, daddy is here and he will always protect you. —He takes the broom from her hands —Go to sleep.
  • —I can't. —holds
  • —Serena, I already told you...
  • —I have chores to do.
  • —Ah, then go upstairs and finish so you can finish early, I don't like you staying up all night.
  • —I know.
  • It was just Serena and her father, well, her mother got married and now lives abroad with her new family, in short, she left them for another man.
  • Serena's room overlooked the street, it meant in front of the Baltimore's house and her father's room was in front of hers overlooking the forest where the back garden was, "Good thing I don't have that room, otherwise I wouldn't sleep peacefully."
  • She was terrified of the woods since she remembered what she saw on her way home, plus she had seen too many horror movies and all the scary things happen in the woods. "it's not like twilight where Edward Cullen takes Bella into the woods or like Teen Wolf where the main character gets bitten by a werewolf" The image of the woods at night terrifies her.
  • —What a laziness to do homework....
  • She curls into a ball on her bed as she watches the street from her window, she didn't want to do homework, but did she have a choice? Of course not. She squints her eyes and as she does so she can see the silhouette of someone in one of the windows of the Baltimore's house.
  • —Mother of God...
  • The blood rushes to her face when her eyes see the naked figure of a man, he was only wearing boxer shorts "Stop looking at him, stop looking at him" "I can't take my eyes off him shit!" "He's hot, way hotter than that dumb Oliver who only approached me for his stupid initiation or Dalton."
  • "Who could that be?" Serena observes if fura, his face, it was so mesmerizing to her that she couldn't take her eyes off him.
  • —Oh shit!
  • she stands still while the eyes of that man stare at her, her face burns so much that when she reacts she lies down on her bed realizing that she had discovered, but, she could see how he moved his lips and it is as if she had understood him because her heart was too upset.
  • —He saw me," she whispers as she feels again her heart in her throat beating madly. —But what did he say? Why does it suffocate me to remember the movement of his lips?
