• I narrowed my eyes tightly and pulled my hand back from Jack as I took a step away. "What is it to you?"
• "You and Uncle Lyon stayed at the same hotel that night," said Jack coldly. "Hard on your heels, he did the same. And the hotel's security footage from that night was deliberately destroyed."
• Had there not been a streetlight camera across from the hotel, Jack would not have been aware of any of this. The surveillance video that the hotel caught of my coming and going was deleted. If nothing illegal had been going on, why would they delete it? The angrier Jack thought about it, the redder his eyes became. What he always wondered about Lyon's behavior now made sense.
