• The rest of the day was a living nightmare. Maria made it her mission to hunt me down at every opportunity, her taunts echoing in my mind long after she’d walked away. It was as if she thrived on my fear, savoring every moment of my suffering. By the time the sun began to set, I was mentally and physically exhausted, but the worst was still to come.
