  • The Pack Registry Office was a grey building that smelt like old paper and stale coffee. Fluorescent lights buzzed overhead as we waited in hard plastic chairs, Emily clutching her purse like a lifeline, and Iris scrolling through her phone with exaggerated boredom.
  • When our number was finally called, I approached the counter alone. The clerk was a tired-looking she-wolf with reading glasses perched on her nose. She examined the dissolution papers with mechanical efficiency, stamping each page without comment.
  • "Both signatures are verified. Family representative confirmation complete." She slid a document across the counter. "This is your proof of filing. The dissolution will be finalized at moonrise in two days, pending the Moon Goddess's witness."
