• I stood in the chapel, surrounded by a gathering of people—Dexter's cousins, his parents, and others who had travelled far to be here. I stood at the altar, dressed in a bridesmaid's gown, holding a bouquet, with little Olivia nestled in Linda's arms. Opposite me, Damon stood in a tuxedo, his eyes frequently glancing my way. Each time our eyes met, I had to look away, feeling a rush of shyness despite the anger simmering within me. I was still upset with him for going off alone and putting his life in danger.
