• Xavier stiffened at the witch’s words, unsure on how to reply to the question. He glanced at Clare who was staring at Roberta in surprise. He wasn’t sure how to reply, not wanting to break his promise with her. He could make her hate him.
• “You can tell?” Clare asked Roberta, breaking the silence between them.
• Roberta rolled her eyes. “Who can’t. Wilder acts like you are the Moon Goddess herself. One would think you were his mate.”
