Chapter 7 The Mysterious Woman
- They were supposed to go on a yacht ride the next day. However, they had to return the same day because Samuel had to attend to some urgent matters.
- Despite the noise in the bar, the booming music could still be heard through the doors.
- Inside the VIP private room.
- Samuel idly swirled the wine glass, causing the wine to churn.
- "Bring her here."
- As the door opened, a woman was pushed into the room.
- "Repeat everything you just said," Liam pushed the woman towards Samuel.
- Samuel warned after taking a sip of wine. "Don't lie, or else I'll pull out your tongue."
- He was speaking calmly, but everyone present knew how ruthless he was
- The woman groveled at his feet. "I'll tell you everything I know! They forced me to drug you back then, and to take ... your sperm."
- "Who are 'they'?"
- "Your ... your father ... " The woman trembled while she revealed everything. She cursed herself for talking too much after being drunk.
- "Who was that woman?"
- "I don't know anything else. I wanted to use it for myself, but your father didn't allow me. He gave me a huge amount of money to leave the country. I ... I spent it all and had only recently returned to Celand ... "
- "Take her away. Don't let her appear before me again," Samuel said impatiently.
- "Mr. Noland, please spare me. I promise I won't say anything!"
- "Get out!" Samuel growled. He was relieved that the woman wasn't Charlie's mother.
- Liam was toying with an empty wine glass beside him. After a moment, he patted Samuel's back, "Your father wouldn't simply choose someone for you. Judging by Charlie's appearance, his mother must be not bad."
- Samuel remained silent.
- He didn't know his father's motives for doing that.
- He was still young, and if he wanted a child, he could have had one in due time. Why did he have to do that to get me a son?
- "I feel sorry for Wendy. She is becoming a stepmother out of the blue. Treat her nicely." Samuel scowled at Liam's words.
- Thinking of Wendy, he grabbed a bottle of wine and downed it in one go.
- Samuel owed Wendy a lot since they knew each other.
- "You should put more effort into the engagement banquet next month," Samuel instructed Liam before leaving.
- Liam rolled his eyes at Samuel. Why should I put so much effort into his engagement banquet?
- Samuel noticed the light in Charlie's room was still on when he returned home.
- It was almost 1 AM. Normally, he would have been asleep by now.
- He saw Penny and Charlie sleeping on the bed when he came to Charlie's room.
- Penny hadn't been sleeping properly ever since her mother fell ill. She woke up upon hearing the door open. She jolted up when she heard footsteps.
- Samuel stood at the edge of the bed and watched her with a dark expression.
- "Mr. Nolan, I was chatting with Charlie and I accidentally fell asleep."
- Penny explained and tucked Charlie in. "I'll go back to my room now."
- As she walked past, Samuel gulped when he smelt her fragrance.
- "Wait!" He called out.
- Penny's back stiffened, and she turned around respectfully. "Yes, Mr. Nolan."
- Samuel was momentarily stunned at her puzzled look.
- The dim light accentuated her plain, especially her bright eyes behind the black-framed glasses.
- Others might not resist the urge to remove her glasses and look into her beautiful eyes.
- Samuel raised his hand and he was startled by his actions. He quickly clenched his fists, and ordered, "Cook some pasta for me."
- He must have wanted to do that because he was tipsy.
- Penny was surprised by Samuel's odd request.
- Her task was to take care of Charlie, and she had made it clear before working.
- "Yes, Mr. Nolan!"
- Having spent some time in the Nolan household, Penny knew that Samuel preferred mild flavours. Considering the smell of alcohol on him, she made a plate of seafood aglio olio.
- Samuel was coming down the stairs as she served the pasta.
- He was dressed in a blue robe, accentuating his tall and slender frame. The collar was slightly open, revealing his tan skin.
- He looked so good!
- Penny quickly looked away when she saw him look up.
- She accidentally touched her bun when reached to untie the apron strap around her neck. Her long hair cascaded down in an instant.
- The warm light enhanced her beauty at a glance.
- She wanted to leave before Samuel noticed.
- However, it was already too late ...
