Chapter 13 The Car Accident

• Penny's body quivered as she slowly turned around. A feigned smile replaced the sorrow and reluctance etched on her face. She urged, "Charlie, I have some things to take care of, and I might not be able to look after you anymore. Be a good boy and listen to your dad, okay?"
• That was all that she could say. Her voice was choked with emotion.
• She held the boy in her arms as she tried to push back the tears that threatened to fall.
