Chapter 6
- Aria’s POV
- I had the day shift today, so I woke up very early in the morning. My day was made when I saw a credit alert on my phone, it was from The Widowmaker!
- He had sent me ten thousand pounds, I couldn’t believe it. My heart leaped in joy, finally I can enroll my kids in school.
- Even though he had promised yesterday to send me a share of his payment, I had doubts that he would keep to his words.
- “I should call him and thank him.” I thought to myself.
- I had saved his number with Widowmaker, even though he had later told me it was Alessandro. It doesn’t matter, as soon as he has paid up his debts, I will cut all communications with him.
- The phone rang and he answered. “Hello little bird,” his cocky voice came through.
- I didn’t like that name, but I was in a good mood so I decided not to pick offense. “I saw the money you sent me, did you get a job?”
- “Hmm… Yes I did.”
- “That is good, you now owe me just nine million, nine hundred and ninety thousand. If you continue like this, you will pay off your debt before you know it.” I laughed.
- He groaned. “Yeah, whatever.” And then the call beeped.
- I looked at the phone in surprise. How rude! Does he plan to not pay the rest? If he doesn’t, then I will just show up at his hotel room and force him to.
- “You look happy, did you win a jackpot?” Maria suddenly called my attention as she woke up.
- “Oh Maria, I am putting the kids in school today. Can you please get them ready on time?” I requested with a smile.
- “Of course Miss Bellandi, I will take care of that now.”
- As Maria left the room, I checked my balance again to make sure the money was still there. I was glad I didn’t have to rely only on my job to settle my bills.
- The more jobs the Widowmaker gets, the more he is going to pay me. But now that I thought of it, I felt bad. He was a Mercenary and he killed people for a living.
- Am I a bad person for supporting him?
- Maybe the next time I see him, I will ask him to only kill bad people. There are so many bad people in this city; he could take only those jobs that have them as targets.
- What do I even care? He is going to kill people whether or not I get a share of it, so I should as well just collect the money for my kids.
- An hour later, I took my kids to the finest school in Valen city. Brainbox Academy, it was a school for the elites and it was the only place deserving of my smart kids.
- I was already running late for work when I left the school. While waiting for a cab on the streets, a flash car sped past, splashing mud water from a pothole all over my body.
- “Hey, you fool!” I cursed loudly, but the driver didn’t bother to stop.
- The glass was tinted so I could not see who was inside, I hope he ends up impotent for being such a jerk!
- Now my dress was ruined and I couldn’t go home to change. I quickly found a cab and went down to Omega Restaurant.
- “It is your first day and you are already late.” Enzo scolded me, he was the chief of staff in charge of all the waiters and cleaners at the restaurant.
- “I am sorry, I had a little accident,” I said, pointing to the stains on my jeans around my thigh area.
- “Okay, just get an apron over it and get to work, there are a lot of customers out there.”
- I nodded and immediately got to work.
- “Hey, hot pants, get us some more coffee.” A man yelled out to me.
- I turned to find two men seated at the table with weird mustaches, they both looked like they were in their late thirties; there was a mischievous grin on their faces.
- I was already in a bad mood but I maintained my calm and went to serve them a tray with two cups of sizzling hot coffee.
- As I bent to put down the tray, he said. “Wow, you have got a really nice ass,” and the next moment, he touched my butt.
- That was when I lost my cool. I immediately picked up one of the cups I had just served and threw the coffee on his body.
- “Arghh!!” he screamed in pain, with shock in his eyes as he jumped up. “Bitch! How dare you?” he cursed in a fit of rage.
- The other guy stood up as well. “Are you insane? You are dead meat!” he spat.
- Now, as someone bred in Valen City, I should have known better than do it, but fuck it!
