- “Yes, of course.” Realizing the gravity of the situation, Mrs. Zanders bowed toward me and the children. “I’m truly sorry. I shouldn’t have overstepped. I didn’t realize you were such important people too.”
- I shook my head slightly, not out of arrogance, but out of disappointment. “You still don’t get it, do you?” I told her calmly. “Dominic didn’t step in because I’m someone important. He acted fairly because he’s someone who believes in doing the right thing. I am not angry at you because you severely offended me, rather I am because of your shameless habit of siding with whoever holds more power.”
