Chapter 8 I Am That Mr Liddell!

  • "Stronger than us? With what you are now? A hobo, vagabond, or the live-in son-in-law of the third-rate Chaplin Family?" Preston mocked endlessly.
  • "Look down on me all you want. I will prove everything to you and everyone else," Roman said plainly.
  • "Huh! Very well. What are you here for then?" Preston sneered, gazing at Roman.
  • "Revenge! I am here to avenge my parents! There are nine of you in total, and none will escape, including that ringleader in Elysium, and certainly including you!" Roman bore into Preston.
  • "You alone?"
  • "Yes, me alone!" Roman nodded. "Christopher Swan was the first, and now, it's your turn!"
  • "What?! You killed Swan?" Preston exclaimed, his body shaking violently.
  • "Yes," Roman said calmly. "He was the first. He was once my father's sworn brother. After my father's death, he took advantage of my youth and seized the Liddell Family's assets, so he had to die!
  • "You, on the other hand, whipped my parents' corpse to curry favor with that ringleader! You also deserve to die for committing such an outrageous act!" Roman's body trembled as he spoke, consumed by endless anger.
  • Christopher had taken everything from his family, and Preston, to please the leader, had whipped his parents' corpses. He loathed them for all that. That kind of hatred had always haunted him. So, Christopher had to die, and so did Preston.
  • "I never understood why my parents, who were so kind and righteous, offended you so much that you whipped their corpses!" Roman asked through gnashed teeth, seething with rage.
  • At that, Preston sneered, "Your parents were decent people, yes, but compared to that big shot in Elysium, they were nothing! For myself and for the Lyon Family, what was wrong with what I did?"
  • "Very well." Roman nodded. "In that case, you do deserve to die!"
  • At that, he strode toward Preston.
  • Preston sensed Roman's animosity but didn't seem particularly afraid. He turned to Cornelius and said, "Mr. Hall, kill him, and I'll give you a hundred million! Also, I'll report to that big shot in Elysium to help you enter the Martial Alliance!"
  • Cornelius jolted, and his eyes gleamed with excitement. Killing Roman would not only bring him a hundred million but also earn the friendship of the powerful figure in Elysium. He was tempted. "Alright!" he agreed and blocked Roman's path in two shakes.
  • "Trying to stop me?" Roman bore into Cornelius.
  • "I'll give you a chance to kill yourself," Cornelius said loftily, exuding an air of invincibility. Indeed, Cornelius' strength put him among the top five in the city. He had what it took to say such words.
  • "Kill myself? Huh, who do you think you are?" Roman retorted.
  • "I, Cornelius Hall, Executive Secretary of the Martial Arts Association in Riverport, Vice President of the Traditional Cathay Medicine Society, ranked… Never mind, you wouldn't understand. I'll give you ten seconds to consider killing yourself, or you'll die a horrible death," Cornelius declared arrogantly.
  • Beside him, Preston pulled out a whip and said sinisterly, "I'm ready to whip your corpse."
  • Seeing Preston with the long whip, the animosity in Roman's eyes became as dense as ancient cryolite.
  • "Cornelius, considering your advanced age, I don't wish to kill you. Step aside quickly!" Roman warned, staring at Cornelius.
  • "Hahaha! B*stard, you're too arrogant! Since that's the case, go to hell!" Cornelius said, and suddenly, a surge of energy surrounded him. Then, he launched a punch at Roman.
  • The speed and power of this punch were terrifying. With Cornelius' strength, he could easily defeat seven or eight top-tier special forces soldiers barehanded. Though he hadn't fought in years, Cornelius thought killing Roman was still all but trivial.
  • When Cornelius' punch was about to connect with Roman, Roman also threw a punch. It was a straightforward punch, with no fancy technique, directly meeting Cornelius' fist.
  • "You're courting death, trying to punch me head-on!" Cornelius sneered, but as their fists collided, his expression abruptly changed.
  • His body was sent flying backward like a cannonball, crashing heavily onto Dominic's sickbed. The already semi-conscious Dominic screamed in pain as he suffered additional injuries, eliminating any hope of recovery.
  • "Ugh…" Cornelius hit the ground, coughing up a mouthful of blood. He looked at Roman with a complex expression.
  • "How… How are you so strong?!" Cornelius stammered, his eyes wide with shock.
  • "Haha, you call this strong? I only used less than ten percent of my strength!"
  • Less than ten percent?! Roman's casual remark struck Cornelius like a thunderbolt. Using less than ten percent of his strength, Roman had sent him flying with a single move. The elder dared not imagine what would happen if Roman used his full power.
  • At this moment, waves of emotion surged in Cornelius' heart. He felt like a fool. In his entire life, he had never encountered such a formidable opponent, especially one so young. "I have no regrets dying in your hands," he finally said after a long pause.
  • "You're on my assassination list, Cornelius, but you once saved Oscar's life. For his sake, I'll spare you. Leave now," Roman suddenly said.
  • "For Oscar's sake, you'll spare me? This Oscar you mentioned…" Cornelius asked in confusion, and Roman revealed plainly. "Oscar Ybarra."
  • Buzz!
  • Cornelius' entire body shook upon hearing the name. He indeed had saved this said person more than twenty years ago. Back then, Oscar was just a minor figure, but now, he had become a significant power in the Marinia state.
  • However, the fact that this young man spoke Oscar's name so casually raised a question in Cornelius' mind: Who exactly was this young man?
  • "You… what is your relationship with Mr. Ybarra?" He asked, staring intently at Roman.
  • "I am the Mr. Liddell Oscar speaks of," Roman replied, remaining unfazed.
  • Boom!
  • Cornelius' body trembled again. Shock overcame him as he looked at Roman, his voice trembling, "You… You're that…" The shock and excitement rendered him nearly speechless.
  • "Yes, I am," Roman affirmed.
  • Cornelius' eyes widened, and his body shook. He could hardly believe that the "Mr. Liddell" Oscar spoke of was this young man before him—he supposed remnant of the Liddell Family.
  • Oscar had personally told him that without Mr. Liddell, he wouldn't have achieved his current success. If Oscar was the ruler of Marinia, then Mr. Liddell was his guiding force!
  • Now, learning that the young man before him was the very Mr. Liddell, how could Cornelius not be astonished?!
  • Thud!
  • Cornelius dropped to his knees, looking at Roman with a reverent expression. "Mr. Liddell, I have long heard of your great name from Mr. Ybarra and have always wanted to see you in person. It's my great fortune to finally meet you. I deeply regret my previous offense. Please, I—"
  • "Enough, save your breath. Leave now," Roman interrupted, intent on finishing his business.
  • "Mr. Liddell, to atone for my offense, I humbly request to kill Preston Lyon on your behalf!" Cornelius offered eagerly, now fully aware of Roman's identity and keen to show his loyalty.
  • "No need. I will avenge my own grievances," Roman said plainly.
