Chapter 4 Blood for Blood!

  • Roman pointed at the urn and said, "Mr. Christopher, this is an urn I procured from Italisia, one of nine, all handcrafted. I just sent one out earlier. Now, I'm giving one to you."
  • "You…" Christopher glared at Roman, his eyes filled with fury.
  • "Mr. Christopher, this is the last time I'll ever address you. Remember, when you reach the underworld, atone to my parents." At that, Roman's body erupted with terrifying malice, like a sword piercing straight at Christopher.
  • Being an underworld figure himself, the lecherous tycoon immediately sensed the imminent danger. He pulled out a switchblade, ready to kill Roman. However, before he could make a move, a bloody hole appeared in his neck, blood spurting out.
  • Christopher touched the wound on his neck, looked at Roman with disbelief, and could only utter a "you" before he fell to the ground with a thud.
  • Just like that, the city's notorious crime lord was no more.
  • Looking at Christopher's corpse, Roman's face remained emotionless, his demeanor as calm as still water as he sheathed a blood-stained military dagger. After all, Christopher was just one of the many he had killed in the past three years.
  • Then, he turned to the petrified Celeste and said, "Celeste Ivory, I've read your file. You graduated from Harvard Business School with full honors and a scholarship. You're competent, but you chose the wrong leader.
  • "From now on, Christopher & Co. will return to the Liddell Family! If you want to continue working, I can make you the CEO. If you can double the company's size within three months, I'll give you ten percent of the shares. Nod if you agree. Shake your head if you don't."
  • Celeste looked at Roman, then at the corpse on the ground. After a long pause, she solemnly nodded.
  • "Good." Roman nodded and continued, "I'll have the company transferred to Romeo Liddell, which is also me. Furthermore, everything that happened here will be erased. If you dare to speak a word of this, your fate will be worse than your old boss'."
  • "No, I wouldn't dare… Mr. Liddell…" Celeste shook her head quickly, her voice trembling.
  • Roman gave Celeste a smile, charming and warm, dazing Celeste momentarily. This isn't the same ruthless killer from just moments ago… is he?
  • Roman left, carrying his woven bag, and Celeste bowed to his retreating figure. "Thank you." She said so because Roman's sudden appearance had saved her from Christopher's brutality.
  • Leaving his company, Roman took out his phone, dialed a number, and ordered, "Oscar, come clean up…"
  • "According to our reports, one of the city's top tycoons, Christopher Swan, died suddenly at his company this afternoon at 4 p.m. due to a heart attack. Additionally, police investigations reveal that Christopher was involved in organized crime, imported large quantities of drugs, and was responsible for three murders. His sudden death can be seen as divine justice, a deserved end!
  • "Next, our reporter will interview the new CEO of Christopher & Co., Celeste Ivory…"
  • Giselle, dressed lightly and barefoot, was sitting cross-legged on the sofa at home with her cousin, Bella Fienley, watching TV. Suddenly, They were both shocked by the breaking news.
  • "Holy cow, Giselle! Christopher Swan is dead. This guy was a billionaire and ranked among the wealthiest in our city! He controlled both the underworld and legitimate businesses; he was quite a powerful guy, really. Then again, he committed many crimes, so I'm not too sorry about his death!
  • "And oh my gosh, the new CEO of Christopher & Co. is hot! Giselle, she's almost as pretty as you, or maybe you both have your unique charms."
  • Bella, at nineteen, was dressed in a preppy outfit with long white stockings on her legs, looking absolutely chic. She was chattering away, annoying Giselle.
  • Just then, Giselle's parents also emerged from inside the house.
  • "Giselle, did you see the news? This is our chance! Christopher is dead, and your classmate Celeste is now the CEO of Christopher & Co. If you can leverage this connection and get a few million-dollar deals from them, not only will our family business revive, but we can also gain respect in front of the Old Madam!" Elowen exclaimed excitedly.
  • Yes, the new CEO of Christopher & Co., Celeste Ivory, was Giselle's high school classmate, and they were known as the "Gorgeous Duo" admired by many. However, Celeste flew off to Libertania for college.
  • Now, with Celeste as the CEO of the billion-dollar Christopher & Co., if Giselle could reconnect with her old classmate and get Celeste to help revive the struggling Chaplin Family business, it would be a great opportunity. This could also restore their family's honor in front of Florence and erase the bad luck brought by Roman.
  • Napoleon Chaplin, Giselle's father, holding a cup of tea, said earnestly, "Giselle, your mother is right. Because of that worthless Roman, our family has been unable to hold our heads high in the family for years. Now, your old classmate has become the CEO of a major corporation. You should reconnect with her and ask for some support."
  • "Support? We're barely even friends, and besides, we haven't been in touch for years. If I go to her now, she'll just laugh at me!" Giselle said with a bitter smile.
  • Her relationship with Celeste genuinely wasn't good… How should she put it?
  • Known as the "Gorgeous Duo" in high school, they were naturally the school's belles, and also, women were innately competitive. When two school belles meet one another, they would inevitably become rivals. So, their relationship was never great.
  • Now, when her parents were insisting she go and ask Celeste for business favors to help the Chaplin Family, Giselle couldn't possibly bring herself to do that.
  • "You know, Giselle, Uncle Napoleon and Aunt Elowen are right. Since Miss Ivory is your classmate, for the sake of the family and your pride, you should see her—" Bella started to say, but Giselle cut her off. "That's enough. I won't see her!"
  • Sigh… Elowen and Napoleon could only sigh.
  • Just then, the doorbell rang.
  • "Who could be visiting at this hour? Dominic?" Elowen's face lit up with joy, and she hurried to open the door.
  • "Dominic? Ha, your Dominic will never visit again…" Giselle muttered. Dominic had already been beaten and crippled by Roman. No way he'd come.
  • Elowen answered the door and called out, "Dominic!"
  • "Mom…" the visitor answered.
  • Bam!
  • Elowen slammed the door shut, cursing loudly, "Oh, freaking hell! Why won't that loser of a jinx just go away?!"
