Chapter 6 In Begonia Town Square

  • Kiran and his friend take a thousand steps - Bolted like a deer - they disappear in the dark of night In Brimm the Liquidator, Eve Whitehouse cast her cold gaze at the window where they were peeking earlier.
  • Still with a hunting breath.
  • "We are separated at this intersection," Avena shouted.
  • Avena, Kai, and Ming ran toward the left and Kiran continued to run on the rocky road.
  • Kiran also disappeared at the crossroads, she ran fast with his chest pounding. He didn't even feel that he had traveled a long distance in the blink of an eye. Just know, he had been hiding under an uncomfortable rough blanket, in his cramped room. The blanket he had to defend against the winter.
  • Kiran couldn't fall asleep.
  • His eyes opened wide, looking at the hollow ceiling of the room!
  • He imagined the cold gaze of the pale, white-haired woman just now, shivering once again. The aura emanating from the Pyromancer, like he was able to kill him, was just a look.
  • Kiran shivered under the covers. For some reason, there was something in his mind, which made him dislike the pyromancer earlier. But he tried to ignore it.
  • Until 2:00 a.m., Kiran stayed awake, unable to squint. He was worried and imagined when someone, perhaps a military group suddenly banged on the door of the house, which with a gun was held at the collar of his mother Kora Wang - who opened the door.
  • "Hope this doesn't happen" Kiran tightened the blanket, closing it to his head.
  • Now and then he wakes up, when the night breeze blows, penetrating the walls of their fragile house and giving them a shivering feeling. The creaking sound of the old window sounded when the wind blew, adding to the sinister in his heart.
  • Kiran was exhausted.
  • In the end, the drowsiness came, and he fell asleep, forgetting the thrilling events in Brimm the Liquidator.

  • "Get up!
  • It was noon. I was astonished, right? Why have you always been up after sunrise recently?" Kora Wang pulled the quilt covering Kiran.
  • A chill came in, making Kiran shiver, waking up instantly.
  • "It's not good for a young man, who is about to become the future leader of the family, to always be lazy! Every day I see you getting later when you are awake." Kora Wang kept talking endlessly. She swept her child's room, forcing the child to stand up from the bed.
  • It was 9:00 a.m., enough for a boy to wake up. In Qingchang Empire, children Kiran's age have been working, both in the market and the mines, to help the family economy.
  • But not for that family. It is Kora Wang who is the source of the family's livelihood.
  • Kiran was cleaning her face with cold water in the kitchen. Fortunately, although poverty is rampant, water sources are not difficult to find in Qingchang Empire.
  • Tap - tap -tap! The sound of shoes sounded. Kiran sniffled.
  • Kora Wang has caught up with him to the back. His mother shook her head and whispered in Kiran's ear.
  • "Someone from our Begonia City subdistrict's government office just came to make an announcement.
  • The officer informed that all the inhabitants of Begonia City must gather to shine just when the sun is overhead, in the town square." Kiran had a puzzled face.
  • Kora Wang gave the code so that he would not ask. The two talked like whispers.
  • "It is said that the storyteller of the Zolias will be executed at noon today. He was convicted on charges of rebelliousness, cooperating with the Red Phoenix Clan!"
  • Kiran's ears rang. Following afterward, his chest beat wildly. Recently, he has been familiar with the two things just now.
  • The child put on a face unconcerned. He ignored his mother's whispers. He cares a lot. The figure to which his mother, the storyteller, was referring was Mr. Niraj Singh - his idol.
  • Kora Wang frowned, feeling neglected. The woman whispered even louder.
  • "At noon, we should all gather in the square and witness the execution of storyteller Niraj Singh.
  • Don't forget to wear that black hooded robe. Did you hear?" Kora Wang's voice seemed to resonate.
  • Finally, Kiran nodded his head listlessly. There is no point in pretending like you don't know who Niraj Singh is.
  • Kiran loves the heroic stories that Mr. Niraj Singh tells. The mythological stories about the Batara of the Zolia Empire and the heroism of the gods, it was all deeply imprinted, in Kiran's heart.
  • His favorite story is about Batara Indra - the Lord of Nirvana who holds lightning. According to mythology in the Zolia Empire, Batara Indra was the son of a God who was considered the King of the Gods.
  • He was inspired to have magical abilities from the story of the Batara Zolia Empire.
  • "Let's set off!" Kora Wang's voice interrupted Kiran's reverie. He threw a black hooded coat at Kiran.
  • "If it's just pensive and daydreaming, it's not messy. We will be late, and by then the execution will be over. I don't want to be given a letter of reprimand for not being disciplined. Let alone a fine, never!
  • Kora Wang dragged Kiran. The two walked briskly down a rough cobblestone road, one that had never been repaired since the great war broke out. Many people looked in a hurry, rushing towards the town square.
  • And all wore black, distinctive coats, although their faces had not been disguised with hoods.
  • At that crossroads.
  • This is the intersection between the Begonia City market and the city prison. Kiran and her mother meet three friends - Avena, Kai, and Ming- who accompany their father and mother. They came from the other side of the road.
  • Kiran was just about to greet the three comrades when Kora Wang pulled his hand violently.
  • "There is no need for those pleasantries. I don't forgive those three couples!" Kiran was taken aback. Even more so his comrades with their parents.
  • "They come from stingy families. Refused to give a loan when we were in trouble, looking for a loan for your father's medical expenses in the past!" Kora Wang's voice was quite loud, no matter how his son's friends were shocked.
  • Kiran can only follow the mother, trying to smile for the sake of courtesy. Meanwhile, when he glanced, it was clear that the faces of the parents of three of his friends were shocked at the rudeness.
  • Kiran was embarrassed. But they could also think that their mother is crazy. A person who does not get a loan and then turns into a hater is a low attitude.
  • "I'm sorry!" Kiran's mouth opened looking at her friend. Instead of looking like an apologetic look, Kiran looks like a mocker.
  • Avena, Kai, and Ming's parents agreed not to allow their son to hang out with Kiran in the future.
  • +++
  • They arrived at the town square shortly as the procession of the execution of storyteller Niraj Singh was about to begin.
  • Kiran closes the hood, he hides her face so that it becomes similar to everyone present - disguised. The square has been densely packed and lively, but it doesn't feel crowded because the place is indeed large.
  • He gazed at the center of the square. There is a wooden podium or stage, on which there has been a thick pile of pine trees. Kiran suspects that it looks like the pile will be used to execute Niraj Singh.
  • "They are too sadistic! The burning penalty is only appropriate for black wizards! Although that invading emperor is also a black wizard!" Kiran stared hatefully.
  • Large iron and handcuffs, as big as an adult's hand, can be seen hanging on the left and right sides. Also, the same handcuffs, seen lying on the floor as well from the sides and right of the stage - will be worn with chained legs executed.
  • Kora Wang just came to her senses.
  • "They are going to burn him alive?" Her voice choked.
  • Many voices could be heard whispering, in a dissatisfied tone.
  • Kiran covered his veil tightly, so as not to hear other people's opinions. He was horrified, unable to imagine that Mr. Niraj Singh would be sentenced to burn.
  • The sound of the gong being hit hard diverted all attention toward one man who was limping over, with his hands and feet cuffed. The jingle of handcuffs sounded, and everyone's hearts were sore.
  • "Niraj Singh!" A bee-like hissing sound sounded in the town square. An officer dressed all in black, wearing a matching color mask was seen dragging the storyteller onto the stage.
  • Quiet and tense. For a long time, no one was executed, let alone burnt like this.
  • Kora Wang squeezed Kiran's hand, which was also cold, just like her hand.
  • "This is not fair!" Kiran only heard his mother's voice whispering.
  • On the stage, the executioner began to put chains. He handcuffed Niraj Singh's hands and feet. The storyteller didn't flinch at all. He looks fearless.
  • The sound of suppressed sobs sounded. Mothers and women covered their mouths with black handkerchiefs.
  • "Executioner, get ready!" A person's voice sounded giving a cue. The executioner was ready to throw a torch into the pile of dry wood.
  • The crying and sad people of Begonia City faded in the wind. At that time appeared one woman with silver hair dramatically. She went straight to the front stage of the execution podium. Everyone whispered!
  • "Evil witch!"
  • "Pyromancer!"
  • After the dramatic appearance of the white-haired wizard, everyone's gaze was shifted to another figure, a tall young man with an eagle-like attitude. His figure looks familiar, he is very famous among the residents of Begonia City.
  • "Captain Bao!"
  • And the whole field became tight-lipped. All were frightened by the existence of the man called Captain Bao. Captain Bao waved his hand with a dramatic gesture. He instructed the executioner to begin the execution.
  • "Burn him!"
  • The fire instantly ignited quickly.
  • Niraj Singh started looking agitated as smoke billowed, making it difficult for him to breathe. He struggled, bearded, trying to escape the sturdy chains on his hands and feet.
  • But all in vain.
  • But Niraj Singh is not complaining. There was no voice for help or apology.
  • Things started to get chaotic, people were dissatisfied.
  • "This is too sadistic. Killing by torture is not a custom in our Qingchang Country!" Someone shouted. The voices of the crowd greeted him, cursing along.
  • But Eve Whitehouse and Captain Bao looked indifferent. Instead, both of them looked even more excited, when they saw the horror on Niraj Singh's face. No matter how persistent, death always brings fear.
  • Dark clouds rolled in the sky of Begonia City. A strong wind blew, and a few branches of Willow trees fell to the ground. The sound of thunder explosions sounded in the sky, raindrops began to melt to the earth.
  • Kora Wang prayed...
  • "Even the heavens, it saddens to see this barbaric act!"
  • A miracle happened!
  • Suddenly the rainwater, which was just pattering, turned into a torrent of water, overflowing from three directions. The spray resulted in Eve White House and Captain Bao, being violently thrown off the podium, and falling to the ground.
  • Three figures in dark robes were seen riding on the water as if part of the rain. Only once, the residents of Begonia City, saw that there were humans who could ride in the water.
  • In that chaotic and excited state, another figure emerged from the sky accompanied by the roaring sound of the howling wind, side by side with the storm.
  • The four look similar, they all wear loose robes, complete with hoods and dark-colored metal masks. There is a small embroidery with the image of a Golden Phoenix on the left chest.
  • All gawked. When moving in the attraction, the four figures' robes waved. Their appearance looks majestic, like gods.
  • People were stunned, some were excited, some were afraid. Even members of the military were blown away by the demonstration. The four of them moved very fast, even too fast.
  • Niraj Singh was freed from the shackles of the iron handcuffs, now in the arms of another figure, riding the stormy winds.
  • The Anemomancer waved goodbye. And the typhoon instantly hit, it made the podium and the surrounding conditions devastated. Afterward, the mysterious four disappeared in the gloomy scene in the town square.
  • The military moved too late. When they tried to catch up, it was just sheer vanity. Eve Whitehouse and Captain Bao appeared afterward in a mess. Their faces turned like boiled crabs.
  • The people of Begonia have fled in search of a haven to avoid clashes that could occur at any time.
  • "Pyromancer and Anemomancer!"
  • "The legendary Phoenix clan!"
  • The town of Begonia on that day was made excited. The name of the Red Phoenix Clan is real. Today the townspeople witnessed with their own eyes.
