• The following morning, Vala woke up feeling pains all over her body, especially her lower body. Bite marks were all over her body and she touched her neck, the back, where the most painful bite mark was, her mate mark. Winter had bitten her there when he had turned her and forced her to her knees as his spirit beast took turns with his body in thrusting into her with such a force that she was so sure that if she wasn't a Demon most of her bones would have been broken.
• Touching the bite on the back of her neck, she remembered how she had screamed loudly in pain when he had bit her without warning. The bite marks weren't healing and she wondered why and also why she was still feeling pain.
