Chapter 8

  • Chapter 8
  • Daniel, although heartbroken but didn't want to escalate the whole thing, looked at Kathie, tears streaming down his eyes, “So, I'm trash to you. You don't know me anymore, right? No problem, but remember this day, you will regret betraying me this way.”
  • “And you, you might be rich but I promise that I'm going to crush you under my feet someday. Trust me, you'll pay heavily.” He said to Morris.
  • “Haha.” Morris laughed mockingly. “You definitely can't! Go and have a bath with good soap first before you can talk to me, okay?”
  • Daniel swallowed hard, his eyes filled with both rage and revenge. Without a word, he turned to leave, but then cruel words hit him that were more than Kathie's betrayal.
  • “Daniel, you can't go from here until you pay me back the $20 note that you borrowed from me to buy the silver necklace.” Victor echoed, after seeing that the necklace was damaged.
  • “What? He even borrowed the money? So, he can't even buy a necklace worth $40 without borrowing? Ahh, so poor.” The onlookers began to laugh.
  • Daniel turned, his eyes fixed on Victor. The sudden betrayal hit him so much, causing him to be birthed with embarrassment and shame.
  • “Wh…wha…..” He tried to force himself to speak but words couldn't come. This was his friend who had always been supportive of him. The only one he had as a family. And he's telling everyone how he borrowed $20 from him? How?
  • Was this some kind of conspiracy or what?
  • All of a sudden a slap landed on his face. Kathie was the person who slapped him, “Is this how stupid and disgusting you are? To borrow $20 from someone to get a necklace trying to please me? Shame on you!” She spat to his face.
  • Embarrassed with weakness, Daniel couldn't do anything; tears began to stream extremely without stopping from his eyes.
  • The two most trusted people had just coldly betrayed him.
  • “Don't look shocked, my dear friend, Dan.” Victor laughed, his face filled with something else, “You don't expect me to stick with someone like you as a friend forever. Or do you want to stink me with poverty just as you are?" He mocked and everyone erupted into laughter.
  • “This is my way of paying back for making me get beat up today, and I believe you aren't going from here free.” Victor continued.
  • “What do you mean?” Daniel stammered. Just then a hand touched Daniel from his back. Before he could turn, a forceful blow hit him and he couldn't hold his stance.
  • Bang! He fell to the ground, groaning.
  • “Haha. He doesn't have the stamina to withstand my blows.” Camron mocked.
  • “It's evident he hadn't eaten.” Peter, one of the jock members added.
  • Daniel stood up, his breathing hit so fast inside of him. He glared at Kathie and shifted to Victor before landing on Camron, “How dare you?” He yelled, clenching his fist to attack back.
  • As he moved, he was overpowered as all the jock members jumped on him, beating him mercilessly with hard punches.
  • “Teach him a lesson of his dear life that he wouldn't forget in haste!” Kathie said, coldly.
  • Daniel began to cough out blood as the beating continued. He gasped for air, struggling to breathe. It was as if his life was going off.
  • “Stop!” Morris ordered, his voice filled with authority. He stepped forward and looked at Daniel, who inwardly thanked him for coming to his rescue, although he hated him with everything in him.
  • “Let him go.” Camron and the jock members stepped back, their faces etched with dissatisfaction. “You're very lucky; I'm in a good mood today, or else…”
  • Daniel stood up and boldly spat blood on his white shirt, “Fuck you!”
  • Furious, Morris slapped him, “Idiot. Take him out.” He yelled, walking away to change his clothes.
  • Grabbing Daniel and hitting him hard, the jock member began to take him outside. In the slightest energy he managed to gain, he said, dripping with menace, “I'll come back for you all!”
  • ****
  • Outside, Daniel was left weakly on the road with blood coming out of his mouth, staining his clothes. His vision became blurry at that moment.
  • It was already 10 PM. He tried to talk but couldn't, the image of the painful betrayal hitting him so hard. He slowly began to close his eyes with all hope that was passing away to another world.
  • “Be it this world or next, I must surely take my revenge on every one of you! Kathie, Morris, Camron and your members and….” His mouth glued showing how Victor was so deep and disheartening to him. “Victor.” He said, closing his eyes.
  • Vroom! Vroom! Vroom!
  • Just right after his eyes were closed, twenty sleek black cars pulled up in a group with dozens of men in black suits rushing out of the cars. “Young Master, we're sorry, we came late.”
  • They bowed to the ground with their heads before lifting the unconscious body, taking him to the car, and heading to the hospital.
  • *****
  • In a cool room, a man who seemed to be in his late seventies with his arms crossed, shook his head, his face filled with anguish as he stared at Daniel's unconscious body on the hospital bed.
  • “I'm not going to forgive myself if anything happens to you, Daniel.” He cried. Just then a nurse walked in.
  • “Nurse, is he going to be fine?” He panicked, his heart skipping.
  • “We have cried out so many treatments on him but he isn't responding to them. But let's be hopeful he survives it.” She replied politely, before checking on Daniel with a stethoscope.
  • “Please, he mustn't die. Do whatever you can to keep him alive. Money isn't the problem. Be it $100 million, I will pay. Just let him leave. He's my son.”
  • “We are trying our best, sir. But the fact is that; his chance of living is under probability not fully assured.”
  • “Oh, no!” The man buried his teary face in his palms. But suddenly, there was a sound of cough that echoed in the ward.
  • The nurse, her face lit up in joy and happiness, “He's awake, sir.” She announced, rushing to Daniel.
