Chapter 150

  • “Let’s go.” Damien’s hand found mine, warm and steady, pulling me inside without hesitation. It felt natural too natural and yet, as I glanced down at our intertwined fingers, a flicker of something unfamiliar stirred inside me. I knew he was just being cautious, worried about another accident, but still... my heart tightened in ways I couldn’t explain.
  • The control room was cloaked in shadows, lit only by the cold blue glow of a handful of humming computers. The air felt heavy, thick with silent tension. I followed him, steps quiet, until we stopped before the largest machine in the room.
  • There he was Little Treasure. So small, sitting stiffly in a custom chair designed just for him, dwarfed by the monstrous tangle of wires and blinking lights. His pale face was blank, emotionless, eyes locked on the flickering screen that poured endless lines of code. Next to him, a tiny robot mirrored his form perfectly, a gun barrel eerily aimed straight at us.
