• I was getting ready for my party date with Roman. I stood in front of the mirror and took a deep breath. My long blonde hair fell in soft waves down my back. I picked up the blue pale-celadon silk dress with a plunging neckline and slipped it over my head. The fabric was smooth and cool against my skin.
• I tied the thin straps over my shoulders and eased the dress down. It fell in gentle folds around my legs. I reached behind and fastened the small buttons along the back. The gown fit snugly at my waist and flowed freely below.
