- Chicago bleeds gray through the tinted windows of the SUV. Grit and rain, the usual blend. But it’s not the city that’s weighing me down, it’s the five-day stretch of shit sleep and worse meetings. Unexpectedly, might I add. I hate business emergencies but I seem to have been plunged into them now. Two days in Florida and another three in San Francisco have done a number on me. Not just me, everybody else.
- “Welcome back to the Windy,” Sage says from the driver’s seat. He glances at me through the rearview mirror, that usual half-smirk on his face. This time, he got to make the trip with Dwight and me, so of course, he is in a great mood. At least the favoritism accusations have been cleared.
