Chapter 32 Jennifer
- Arabelle POV.
- The manor was quiet. Too quiet. I wandered through the vast hallways, my footsteps echoing softly against the cold stone floors. The grand chandeliers above me cast long, eerie shadows across the walls, their dim lights flickering as though they were struggling to stay alive. I’d been here for what felt like ages, though in reality, it had only been a few days. Time had become meaningless within these walls, each moment dragging into the next, unchanging, suffocating.
- I sighed, brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear as I gazed out one of the large windows. Outside, the world continued as it always did, completely unaware of the turmoil inside me. The garden was overgrown with wildflowers and weeds, the once-carefully tended hedges now unruly and chaotic. It seemed even the grounds had fallen victim to the same sense of neglect that pervaded the manor.
