Chapter 10 A Monster
- I fought against it.
- My body strained against the enchanted chains, muscles tensing, skin burning where the metal touched. The pain was excruciating, but I clung to it. Pain meant I was still here. Still in control.
- But the curse didn’t care. It was like a living thing inside me, a beast with claws and teeth, tearing at my insides, howling to be let loose. It wanted to destroy, to consume, to break free of this fragile, human shell. I could feel it gnawing at the edges of my mind, scraping away my sanity piece by piece, and for a moment, I thought it would win.
