Chapter 4
- Nysera.
- The light flicked around the room as I snapped my eyes open. I gasped for air, reaching for the water at the same time.
- My reflection stared back at me, not what I had really expected. The dark eyes, wrinkles that had altered my face were gone. I looked so much like how I had always looked like before coming here. "Was it the nightmare?" I asked in a low tone, my own voice sounding so foreign.
- Or was my nightmare a reality? I rushed to grab my phone that was charging. It read, July 7th, 2023.
- It was just January 18th, 2024 yesterday. "We died and came back to life. We were given a second chance." Raven announced.
- "I came back to life?" I whispered slowly. A second chance? For what exactly? "Just yesterday, Rana tried to kill me." I shook my head.
- Scratch that, she killed me and here I was, with a second chance to make things right. To fight for my own place.
- To me, it was just yesterday that she had killed me but to her, she was planning for it in future so I had the chance to make sure that it never happens. "Someone is coming." Raven alerted.
- The foreign scent grew stronger, just as the footsteps. Soon, there was a loud bang on the door. "Come out, Nysera." The voice was calm, it took less than a minute before it switched up and became harsh. "I will be very angry if you don't do it now." The voice said again.
- I cleared my own throat, dusting off the invisible dust from my gown before I opened the door. I came face to face with Blade, one of my brothers that had never hesitated to remind me of my place.
- I had four brothers, though I never got the chance the rest, I had met Blade.
- Blade stood tall, majestic and somehow handsome as the girls had always referred him to. I had always seen him that way, but it was different now. "So now, you think you can look at me straight in the eyes?" He barked, almost spitting on my face.
- "When you are done staring at me, then you should head downstairs because father and mother are calling you."
- "Okay." I sagged my shoulders. Something that I would have never done.
- The old me would have crumbled to my feet instead, while wondering what I could have done to be summoned. He stayed back for a bit, his eyes lingering on me before he let out a hiss and walked away.
- Blade was the first one to show me how much hatred he had in stored for me. I was the long lost daughter of Alpha Reed and his wife, Luna Ysolde.
- I was taking the place of their beloved Rana, the one that they had all believed is their true sister, never me that was abandoned for years.
- "I will make sure they all regret it." I vowed.
- Majestically, I walked down the stairs, hearing the faint voices of the man I called a father apologizing to someone. I knew that it was Rana, she had plotted one of her lies and fed it to them.
- My heart sank when it hit me, I should have been the one there, receiving their love and pampering. They had taken care of Rana all those years, it was also my turn to experience what it felt to have a family. But all I could in return was hell.
- One could see them and Rana together, they would easily assume that she was their biological daughter, while I was just a house maid that was favored.
- But guess what? I was fully ready for them. I had lived this life already and now, I would rewrite those stories myself. "You called for me?" I said nonchalantly as I got to them.
- "What were you on earth thinking? Blade questioned angrily.
- "I don't even know what you are talking about."
- My response took all of them off guard, even Rana that was pretending to wipe her tears. "What is all the fuse about? Or rather what have I done this time?" I directed my question to all of them.
- "Are you insane? You are talking to me that way?" Blade glared while shocked at my sudden change. If looks could kill then Blade's could send me down to hell.
- "Are you my brother? Have you ever considered yourself one?" The word sliced through my tongue. I wasn't part of the family, I had never been.
- Rana was the only that had always mattered.
- I had given up everything that I had for this people, I called my family, they took me as a tool that they could use. "Now, Nysera. You are being disrespectful after what you had done." Luna Ysolde interrupted.
- "What I have done? Enlighten me please." I folded my arms.
- The air began to grew thick, the glares that came from Alpha Reed and Blade could drill a hole right into me. "You don't have to scold her, I am sure she never meant it." Rana cried out.
- I rolled my eyes at the act. Alpha Reed's attention turned to me again. He was done comforting his precious angel. "I will not condone such actions in my house."
- "You should apologize to your sister this instance and help her out." He ordered.
- I stayed rooted, unbothered by how angered he was or how he was ready to explode at any second. "And when did you become rude? That you dare speak back to your brother?"
- Compared to his anger, my composure as quiet, yet powerful. It pushed something down into their minds. "Why should I apologize to her? Or him?" I pointed at the both of them.
- Each word that felt my lips made an impact on them, my voice was calm that cut through the air like a broken glass.
- For the first time, I was standing up for myself. For the truth.
