Chapter 3
- Nysera
- The engagement was happening in the pack hall and I remained in the room, sobbing and weeping about my broken heart.
- I couldn’t believe they would force him to reject me, I was their biological daughter but I was treated like an outcast.
- “Raven… Raven please speak to me.” I pleaded, trying to get my devastated wolf to speak but she didn’t say a word.
- A knock came in on the door and I wiped my tears hastily as I dashed down.
- “You should go into the garden to comfort Rana, she’s upset that we told Kyle to reject you…”
- “But Kyle is my mate and I didn’t…”
- “Enough!” Blade snapped and I shut my mouth as tears gathered in my eyes.
- “Can’t you see that she’s devastated? She doesn’t want to carry on with the engagement all because of you. What do you think people are going to say when they find out the bride has been swapped? Do you think the Alpha and Luna will accept you? They have very high tastes and they’ve bred Rana for years just to match up, are you trying to waste their energy? Go into the garden and assure her that everything is fine.” He insisted and I nodded, biting back tears as I headed out.
- Everywhere was blurry but I made my way to the garden. I found Rana in the garden, her back turned as she watched the moon.
- “You should head inside, everyone is worried about you.” I muttered and she smiled.
- “No!” She replied as she began running out and I dashed after her, wondering what she was trying to do.
- We ran for more than ten minutes, passing through the small exit out of the pack house into the forest.
- She stopped, panting heavily with a smirk on her face.
- “Rana… What are you doing? Why are you here! Shouldn’t you be at the pack house? Haven’t you done enough? First you took my parents and now my mate, what else do you want?” I snapped, panting and she rolled her eyes.
- “Just one more thing.” She replied and I sighed.
- “Anything, please take anything as long as it’ll get you off my back, I just want a normal life, I’m not here to compete for love, money or attention, please…” I was still speaking when I got pushed from behind, making me fall to the ground.
- I scratched my knee on the floor and tried to stand up when I saw a wind behind me, snarling and prancing around me while Rana grinned cruelly.
- “Rana… Wh… what is going on?” I demanded, struggling to crawl back and she smiled.
- “The only thing I want from you now is your life. You're going to die while I’ll announce to the world that you attacked me and tried to kill me.” She replied and my eyes widened.
- “Rana…” I didn’t complete my sentence as the dark wolf’s huge fangs sank into my legs, making me scream as blood began pouring while pain shot through my whole body.
- “Please… Rana please…” I couldn’t lift my leg and I dragged it as I tried to move back but he launched an attack at me, his sharp claws scratching my chest as it slit my gown.
- “Argh!” I screamed in agony, my eyes filled with tears as I turned to Rana, trying to plead for help but she watched with great joy.
- I began to lose my breath as his attacks continued, he bit off almost every part of me and soon I was covered in blood and struggling to live.
- Rana on the other hand tore her dress in a few places and asked the wolf to scratch some parts of her body. I couldn’t understand what was going on but I laid there, gasping for breath.
- “Help! Help! Nysera attacked me!” Rana screamed at the top of her voice and in less than three minutes, the whole family ran over, carrying torches as they searched for us.
- “Ah! Rana!” Mom screamed as she ran over to where she was, ignoring me. Everyone focused on Rana who was panting heavily and acting like she was about to die.
- “What happened…”
- “It was Nysera… She tried to attack me because of the engagement, this good wolf here saved me… She almost tore me to death.” She gasped and everyone was filled with shock.
- “How dare you try to kill your sister! You don’t deserve our love! We should leave you out there to suffer the same thing she suffered!” They yelled and Blade carried Rana on his back while they raced to the pack, ignoring me who was at the verge of death.
- “I’m so sorry Raven… In our next life, I promise not to be a gullible fool…” I whispered before I drifted into abysmal darkness.
